After Service: delicious food, flowing drinks, high vibes

Exceptional food and drinks done well by those in the know.

That’s the simplest way to describe After Service, a new event series by veteran hospo team Kieran Bunton, Theo Boggs and Brett Nebauer.

The trio met after they crossed paths during their school days and at some of Canberra’s best-loved and most lauded venues, working across the bar, kitchen and front of house. Chances are that if you love Canberra’s food scene, their faces are familiar.

Now, they’re combining this shared passion to create After Service, a series of evenings where the food is delicious, the drinks are flowing and the vibes are high. Essentially, replicating the atmosphere that made the trio fall in love with the industry in the first place.

“Our common ground is how different we are outside in our individual lives but the industry is what bonded us together,” says Theo.

The trio says that After Service is all about their “deep admiration for the industry and its versatility.”

“We are paying homage to the things that made us fall in love with hospitality. On that note, we also witnessed that there is an appetite for the energy of what this industry once provided and where we know it should be.”

After the roaring success of the first event, held last month at Miss Van’s, it’s clear others feel the same.

“The first event was a confirmation we are on the right track and we are incredibly thankful for a supporting community,” says Brett.

With the next event slated for Sunday 9 June at Squeaky Clean, now’s your chance to experience After Service for yourself – and with a public holiday the next day!

As for what the evening will entail, Kieran says it’s pretty simple.

“A great f**ken time!” he laughs. “But in all seriousness drinks and food are our product, done in an approachable way. Which is translated through our service to endeavour to provide an experience for all guests.”

And if you can’t make the June event, don’t worry – Theo assures us the team isn’t done yet, with the plan for 2024 to “keep doing what we are doing [and] facilitate this as longs as the community allows us.”

“We have a few more events to see the year out at some of your favourite venues. After that we are looking to go interstate and then look for a space of residency for a longer period of time in Canberra. In short, our plan is to do this every now and then until we get to do it every day.”
