What ho! Ballyhoo to open with Temporada’s Dave Young at the helm

Posted on

We have the final piece of the puzzle. After welcoming KOTO and Rosa’s to the iconic Parliamentary Triangle space once occupied by The Lobby, today it was announced that third and final venue Ballyhoo will open in late August.

And in some exciting news, Hatted Chef Dave Young will helm a kitchen that focuses on laid-back, fun food with Mediterranean and South American influences.

It’s welcome news for foodies mourning the loss of Dave’s beloved Temporada, which closed its doors earlier this year.

“Choosing a venue steeped in Canberra’s history was a deliberate move towards doing something meaningful in hospitality,” explains Dave. “Ballyhoo’s location in the National Triangle will attract a unique crowd on a national scale, providing an opportunity to truly stand out and be a part of the next chapter in Canberra history.”

“Temporada was a great chapter, now I’m excited to create something equally exciting in this iconic space. I’ve got a clean slate to explore and experiment with new food concepts that aren’t tied to people’s expectations from me.”

With a menu that promises a ‘fiery and zesty personality’ with ‘deliberately bold’ flavours, Ballyhoo will be open for lunch and dinner with communal dining and a breezy, fun atmosphere where ‘the highly strung can unwind and professionals can escape the business grind’.

The Ballyhoo bar will focus on wine, with drops from the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Margaret River and Canberra’s own award-winning cool climate wine region, as well as a curated selection of Australian spirits so you can sip the afternoons away.

Ballyhoo is now taking bookings from 20 August.
