Five cracking outdoor bars to visit now that summer has finally shown up
Posted on
I sure as heck didn’t sign up for 2022’s/2023’s take on “summer weather”.
From rain to wintery temperatures (seriously HAD NO ONE TOLD THE WEATHER IT’S FEBRUARY?), summer was off to a slow start.
Luckily, the outrage of 400,000 Canberrans who want a proper summer seems to have *manifested* some sun—and what better way to celebrate than heading to an outdoor bar this weekend? So here’s a mix of old and new favourites to enjoy now that summer is finally here.
The Jetty (Parkes)
The vibe: The buzzy excitement that comes with the opening of a pop-up bar (courtesy of Kingston’s The Dock).
Order: A grazing board and some BentSpoke tinnies.
Armada Bar (Barton)
The vibe: Elevated lakeside chic. It’s the second summer of The Boat House’s outdoor offshoot.
Order: A bottle of fizz to share with the table and some oysters. Oh—and try the chips!
The Pop Inn (Barton)

(Okay, this isn’t technically an outdoor bar, it’s an enclosed rooftop bar…but it sure is nice to be there on a sunny day)
The vibe: Vibrant cocktails and views for days
Order: One of their signature cocktails and a pizza to share
