Wondering what is taking Brunello’s space? We have the scoop.

Posted on

While we revealed last month that Brunello would sadly be saying goodbye to City Walk with Lebanese restaurant Azima taking its place, we now have details on what exactly this new resident will offer.

Loosely translating to ‘an invitation to feast’, Azima will offer ‘traditional Lebanese cuisine…fresh, vibrant flavours and generous banquet menus’ – all at an affordable price point.

Brought to you by Adam Elchakak (Inka and Koto) and hospitality consultant George Khoury, Azima will be about ‘recreating the classic home-cooked dishes’ the two grew up eating, with shared plates, family and warm hospitality the central focus.

“We wanted to create a place where people can still go out, spend time with family and friends and have a great meal any day of the week — without worrying about their bank balance,” says George.

As for the menu, expect ‘traditional meat dishes like shish tawook (marinated chicken breast skewers with chilli bread and garlic) and kibbeh (fried burghul wheat balls filled with mince and onion)’.

Vegetarians and vegans are also catered for with Middle Eastern classics like ‘hommos and smoked eggplant dips, fattoush, falafel, tabouli and arnabeet makle (golden cauliflower with tahini sauce)’.

Azima will open on Friday 31 May, with plans to open daily for lunch and dinner.
