Where to find great ramen in Canberra, as chosen by you
Posted on
When we asked our Facebook audience where to find great ramen in Canberra last week, we weren’t expecting the deluge of comments we’d receive.
Recommendations flowed thick and fast for spots on all sides of Canberra – some with just one favourite venue, some offering a deep dive into the nuances of which ramen venue suited which tastes – and all with a dedicated passion that we love to see.
So, as chosen by our beloved audience, we give you the list of our reader’s favourite ramen in Canberra – just in time for cosy autumn dinner dates.
Canteen, Fyshwick
A sleek, minimalist space within Fyshwick’s Dairy Road, Canteen first began as Ramen Daddy – Canberra’s first ramen food truck – before opening a pop-up at Verity Lane Market in 2020 and their current space in 2022.
We can never get enough of Canteen’s cosy interiors on a cool autumn day – and their absolutely delightful staff make it that much better.
Can’t make it out to Fyshwick? Ramen Daddy also lives on in Canteen’s Ramen Daddy take-home packs, available at selected supermarkets around Canberra.

Open Wednesday (lunch), Friday-Saturday (lunch + dinner), Sunday (lunch) | Building 3.3/1 Dairy Road, Fyshwick | eatcanteen.com.au
Muku, Scullin
Muku is one of the freshest ramen faces on the block – but packs a serious punch!
Lovely owners Rina and Corey hosted some of the HerCanberra team recently so we can attest to the deliciousness of this plant-based suburban ramen gem.
Check out our Reel to see for yourself.

Ramen O, Belconnen, Woden and City West
Ramen O had lines around the block when they first opened in Belconnen in 2020 – and the hype hasn’t died down.
True to form they quietly opened their second venue in Woden in 2022 and their third restaurant in City West on University Avenue earlier this year and all we can say is: thank you for choosing a spot around the corner from the HerCanberra office.

White Chaco, Braddon
Braddon hole-in-the-wall White Chaco has had Canberrans in a chokehold over their ramen since opening in 2019 – members of the HerCanberra team included.
Offering the ultimate winter date night spot (cosy, intimate, dimly lit), this one is for the lovers (of ramen, that is).

Open Monday – Wednesday (dinner) and Thursday – Sunday (lunch and dinner) | g10/27 Lonsdale Street, Braddon | @w.chaco
Ikigai, Gungahlin
Newcomer Ikigai might just win the award for coolest new ramen spot, with its moody industrial chic interiors and light sculpture shaped like a bowl of ramen.
While we’re yet to try Ikigai ourselves, the comments on our call out post don’t lie – Gungahlinites love them some ramen.

Open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (dinner) and Friday, Saturday, Sunday (lunch and dinner) | 43 Hibberson Street, Gungahlin | ikigairamen.au
Ramentic, Braddon
One of Canberra’s longest-serving ramen joints that shows no sign of slowing, Ramentic is a Lonsdale Street staple – especially once winter has arrived.
Offering bar-style seating and friendly, fast-paced service, might we recommend dinner at Ramentic and then a dash across the street to Messina for dessert? Heaven.

Open Tuesday – Sunday (lunch and dinner) | 134/24 Lonsdale Street, Braddon | ramenticbar.square.site
Maji, Campbell
Maji is newcomer, sure, but wow did it get a lot of mentions on our call-out post.
Nestled in ‘new Campbell’ on Constitution Avenue, go to Maji for the sushi served on boats, stay for the ramen.
Open Tuesday – Sunday for lunch and dinner | Shop G09/21 Provan Street, Campbell | Facebook
Baby Su, City West
Colourful, fun and home to all things delicious, it’s no surprise that pan-Asian fusion restaurant Baby Su made the list – and we don’t think this is a controversial opinion at all.
In fact, our mouths are downright watering thinking about this and darn it, when is my lunch break?!

Open seven days for lunch and dinner | 54 Alinga Street, Canberra | baby-su.com.au
Raijin, McKellar
One of the cutest comments we got in our ramen call out was someone recommending the “teeny place in McKellar Shops” whose name they couldn’t remember but was “amazing”.
This, my friends, is Raijin Japanese Cuisine which has steadily built a cult following since it first began as a stall at the Old Bus Depot Markets. Why not discover it for yourself?

Open Tuesday – Wednesday (dinner) and Thursday – Saturday (lunch and dinner) | Unit 3/6 Bennetts Close, McKellar | Facebook
Tenkomori, City
At first glance, Tenkomori – located in bustling Lyric Lane in Constitution Place – might seem destined to become a ‘grab and go’ staple for the precinct’s many office workers and not much more, but it’s dedicated fanbase proves otherwise.
It might its close proximity to Canberra Theatre Centre (who wouldn’t want ramen before a night at the theatre?) or the fact they also offer beer and sake but whatever reason, we’re ready to find out what all the fuss is about.

Boru, Wanniassa
Boru is bringing ramen to Canberra’s deep south and clearly, that’s been a popular move.
The best part? If your dining partner doesn’t love ramen (the scandal!) they can indulge in Boru’s delish looking fried chicken…

And for the serious ramen connoisseurs….
There were a couple of comments that warranted their own section because of the depth of their recommendation!
