There’s nothing like a private dining room to elevate any culinary experience.
Picture being led past the crowd to your own secluded space, where you can hear conversation with ease and soak up what the venue has to offer. It’s like hosting your own luxe dinner, without having to do the cooking or cleaning.
And though they may scream VIP, private dining rooms don’t necessarily have to cost an arm and a leg. We’ve rounded up eight of Canberra’s most luxe private dining options.
Med
Located in the front area of this beautifully designed restaurant, the Med’s private room caters for up to 16 guests and is the perfect space to linger over a long lunch or dinner.
Wander through the arched portal to find a generous dining table with natural hues, warm lighting and a vibrant setting to match the exciting menu of Mediterranean-infused flavours. The room is a minimum spend of $1000 for groups on weekdays.

Koto
Seamlessly merging two interconnected dining spaces into one, this sleek room can accommodate 20 people or ten when separated.
With mood lighting, detailed wall panelling and curved chairs, it’s a sophisticated choice for a corporate or intimate gathering. Minimum spend per group is $1200 for lunch or $1500 for dinner.

The Wine Room
The jewel in the crown at this cool new Braddon venue is surely its private dining room, which fits up to 12 people and features a stunning floral installation by Wiluna.
With warm interiors, hearty share plates and an extensive wine list, it’s the perfect option for the incoming cooler nights. The best part? It doesn’t cost extra to book if you nab either the 6 pm or 8.30 pm sitting.
If you’d prefer the room for the entire night, there is a $1500 minimum spend (or $125 per person in a group of 12).

Il Camino at Agostini’s
Recently transformed from an outdoor courtyard to a luxe new dining space, Il Camino at Kingston’s Agostini’s can be hired exclusively or partially for private functions.
Featuring a cosy fireplace, textured panelling, brass accents, large stone tables and terrazzo floor tiles, there is a mix of low and high seating and direct access to the bar through a large brass-framed window. The entire space holds 40 people and can be booked exclusively for a minimum spend, or book one of the large stone table that sits 12 for a partial private experience without a minimum spend.

Raku
Since opening in 2017, sleek Japanese restaurant Raku has built a steady following thanks to its tantalising menu and cocktails, but many don’t know it also houses a chic private room.
Catering for up to 10 people with an $800 minimum spend, the room features mood lighting and curved seating, and is the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle while enjoying Raku’s signature dishes.

Such and Such
Located near the Canberra Theatre Centre, Such and Such presents the perfect post-show dinner venue for your next group outing. With quirky interiors and a menu designed to share, their private dining room is available for parties of up to 12 and requires no minimum spend.

Natural Nine
Room 8 at Natural Nine might just be one of Canberra’s best-hidden gems. Giving you a chic, curtained space in which to in indulge in Natural Nine’s modern pan-Asian odyssey of a menu—and that’s before you get to the cocktails.
With a large round table (featuring a ‘lazy susan’, of course), it’s the perfect place to be alone, surrounded by sumptuous food.

Courgette
One of Canberra’s long-running fine dining institutions, Courgette has two private dining spaces to choose from: the Cellar Room or the Board Room. Surrounded by more than 400 bottles of wine, the Cellar Room seats eight-10 people and has no minimum spend. If you’re after a more corporate vibe or power lunch, the Board Room fits up to 20.

The Boat House
If you’re after water views with a fine dining vibe, The Boat House has three private dining rooms to choose from: East End, Walters and West End. Each room features crisp white linen, crystal glassware and direct access to a lakeside deck and gardens.
The atmosphere is enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows and a crackling open fire in the West End Room during the winter months. The first two rooms can fit up to 48 people (seated) while the West End room fits up to 88. Each room has a minimum spend (contact the venue for pricing as it differs depending on numbers.)
