Okay, Canberra, you know the drill.

It’s time to highlight Canberra’s newest food and drink offerings—except this time, instead of saying ‘dig out your stretchy pants’, you’re probably already wearing them. I know I am.

We love giving a shoutout to Canberra’s newest eateries in these editorials—and there’s never been a better time to support new businesses because we’re pretty sure this hasn’t been the opening year they planned for.

On that note—we’ve only included new places that have COVID-restriction-approved practices in place to protect customers (i.e take away and delivery only).

Bakehouse Canberra (Ainslie)

Bakehouse is an independent farm-gate-style bakery run by husband and wife team Baden and Kaylee Burke.

Luckily, as bakeries are essentially takeaway businesses anyway, the Bakehouse continues to operate, with social-distancing restrictions in place.

Melba’s newest resident Cafe Mamé is serving up a variety of European-style baked goods and sweet treats and is open for takeaway.

Thank god, because we need to get our hands on that epic brownie…
