Oh My Papa! Canberra Centre reveals a new rooftop bar
Posted on
Hello, sunset sessions! Summer nights out in the city are set to be elevated to a whole new level.
In breaking news, Canberra Centre is about to welcome an exciting new addition to its dining and nightlife scene, with modern Asian restaurant and bar Oh My Papa announcing that it will be opening its doors this Friday 16 October.
And while the bold Asian flavours and cheeky cocktails sound amazing, it’s the rooftop bar boasting views across the city that has us most excited.
Taking over a new multi-level space on Bunda Street, the graffiti-inspired rooftop bar will not only offer Canberrans a new destination to drink and dine but will also bring life back to the night – all in the heart of the city.

Following the success of its first location in Newcastle (where it’s a local favourite), Oh My Papa Canberra is bursting with personality, featuring bold textures, graffiti artwork and unexpected design details throughout. And while the playful spirit of the original Oh My Papa remains, the Canberra venue takes on a more refined, grown-up feel without losing its sense of fun.
But onto the food. Featuring a modern Asian menu designed for sharing, foodies can expect punchy flavours, comforting favourites and plenty of dishes worth ordering for the table. Think: smoky Chicken Yakitori, crispy Karaage Chicken Bao Buns and Caramelised Pork Belly, balancing rich, sweet and savoury flavours.
For something more substantial, the Massaman Lamb Shank is slow-cooked until tender and served with a fragrant curry made from house-made paste.

The drinks menu is equally playful, featuring an assortment of Asian-inspired cocktails with cheeky names and unexpected flavour combinations, alongside a selection of wines, beers and refreshing favourites.
For Oh My Papa co-owner Nikki Lertaromrat, the Canberra opening is all about creating a place where great food, good company and a little spontaneity come together.
“We want people to come in for lunch or dinner and end up staying for drinks, good conversations and a few laughs,” says Nikki.
“The rooftop is one of the things we’re most excited about. We think Canberrans will love having somewhere they can come for dinner, head upstairs for drinks and enjoy the atmosphere without needing to go anywhere else.”
“It’s the kind of place where you might head upstairs thinking you’ll just have one drink, and suddenly realise it’s three hours later,” she adds.
Nikki says the best way to experience Oh My Papa is to embrace its playful approach to dining.
“Our advice is simple. Order a few dishes, get some cocktails, share everything and don’t be afraid to try something new. We want people to have fun with the menu, discover flavours they love and enjoy the whole experience,” she says.
Whether you’re after a quick lunch or a long night out in the city, Oh My Papa sounds like it will quickly become a new city favourite.
