Six new cafés in Canberra for your morning coffee fix

Posted on

It’s no secret that Canberrans love a good coffee – here are six new places to find one.

While there’s never been a shortage of cafés to visit, with a flurry of recent openings around the city, there’s never been a better excuse to treat yourself to a barista-made brew.

From suburban gems to city cafés, add these newbies to the list for your next caffeine hit.

Haru (Scullin)

You better be quick to visit this café because Muku Ramen Bar’s delicious Japanese pop-up café is open for a good time, not a long time. Serving sweets, frappes, coffee and more from 9.30 am until 2 pm on Sundays until the end of 2025, go in to have a true Japanese café experience by ordering onigiri and Hokkaido Cream Buns paired with a creamy coffee.

Café June (Braddon)

Located on Lonsdale Street in Braddon, you might have known Café June as Elemetal Café. Recently refreshed and revitalised, it now has a whole new menu and a whole new look. Pop in seven days a week for a flat white and stay for the Coconut Coffee Cloud.

BUNA (City)

Those working near Rudd Street have a new café for their morning coffee run – BUNA. Open from 7.30 am until 2.30 pm, here you’ll find an all-day menu (hello Mango Panna Cotta French Toast) and an extensive coffee menu. And honestly? They had us at the Australian Bush Honey Latte and the Canberra Fog with Earl Grey, steamed milk and vanilla.

Bloom Room (City)

Craving a coffee and pancakes in the heart of the city? While the Pancake Parlour is no more, Bloom Room has taken over the space to serve just that. Combining the best of both worlds – a morning sugar and caffeine hit – what more could you want?

Brew & Crust (Manuka)

Open from 7 am daily on Manuka Terrace, Brew & Crust is offering a young, vibrant take on Manuka’s iconic, if slightly monotonous, café scene. Serving coffee, cloud matcha lattes, New York-style chunky cookies and café classics with a twist, you’ll want to cross this off your bucket list ASAP.

Nichi (Kingston)

With a stunning minimalist Japanese aesthetic, a small selection of Sonoma pastries and a delicious selection of hot drinks, this café is ideal for coffee, hojicha and matcha lovers alike. Located in Old Kingston, you can caffeinate yourself here between 7.30 am and 3 pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
