Sunday Supper Club: Darren Perryman

Posted on

Get up close and personal with some of Canberra’s best chefs at Sunday Supper Club, presented in collaboration with Winning Appliances.

When’s the last time you enjoyed a three-course meal cooked by one of Canberra’s leading chefs for less than $50 per person?

That’s the concept of the Sunday Supper Club, presented in collaboration with Winning Appliances.

Here’s how it works

On the first Sunday of each month, the Winning Appliances’ Kingston showroom is transformed into an intimate dining environment for just 30 guests.

This month we are privileged to welcome Darren Perryman, Executive Chef at Pialligo Estate, for an evening all about flavourful, homestyle food—and maybe the best Sunday Roast you’ve ever had.

You’ll be able to watch Darren whip up his creations in the Winning Appliances demonstration kitchen, and hear the story of his food journey in a conversation hosted by HerCanberra CEO Amanda Whitley.

Your ticket price includes matched wines and entertainment. You’ll leave not only with full stomachs but with loads of ideas and inspirations for entertaining at your place.

About the chef

Darren Perryman reckons “cooking is in his DNA”. Inspired by his grandmother in the north of England who was an exceptional cook, he grew up foraging for nettles, mushrooms and berries, the love for food all around him.

Darren’s first Head Chef’s position was at the single Hatted Canberra Restaurant, The Republic. After two-and-a-half years at the helm, Darren moved to Sydney, where he then worked at the triple-hatted, Restaurant Forty One at Chifley Tower. From there he moved to two-hatted restaurant bel mondo, as Sous Chef.

Darren then returned home to Canberra and opened his own restaurant The First Floor In Green Square Kingston—this would be his home for more than a decade.

His passion for food took on a new direction following a trip to Paris where he fell in love with bread. Upon his return home, Darren spent months reading about his new-found love and soon after began making some of the best sourdough in Canberra at Autolyse.

Darren now has a new home at Pialligo Estate as the Executive Chef, where he is preparing exquisite dishes influenced by his passion for foraging and paddock to plate.
