Take in the capital with the boys from Capital Brewing Co

Posted on

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably familiar with Capital Brewing Co’s distinctive red and white branding—and delicious beer.

But now you have the chance to get to know the boys behind the brews, thanks to VisitCanberra.

The team at Capital Brewing Co. have an impressive set up in Fyshwick where they brew their own ales.

You’ll find a taphouse where you can enjoy their beers straight from the source, accompanied by delights from the iconic Brodburger.

When they’re not busy creating sensational beverages, co-founder Laurence Kain and head brewer Wade Hurley love exploring all Canberra has to offer.

Here are just a few of their favourites.

Laurence Kain – Co-founder, Capital Brewing Co.

Where are two places we will catch you hanging out in and around Canberra? Gang Gang Café at Downer Shops, or the mountain bike trails at Majura or O’Connor Ridge.

The most fascinating place is… the Skyspace ‘Within Without’ by James Turrell. It’s a fully immersive sculpture at the National Gallery of Australia – go check it out!

My favourite way to blow off some steam is… at the end of the bar at Hippo Co with a good whisky and a beer.

When I want to dine out, I go to…  Eightysix. Absolutely epic food.

The most beautiful place near Canberra is… Mt Gingera from Stockyard Spur—it’s a really steep climb, about 21km return, but always a nice day out.

Wade Hurley – Head Brewer, Capital Brewing Co.

When friends are visiting Canberra for the first time, the first place I take them is… Ovolo Nishi, some of the most amazing architecture I have ever seen.

I learn something each time I go to… Questacon! Plus the slide is awesome.

The best place to go in summer is… I love Mollymook, such a quick getaway and a sweet beach.

The best place to go in winter is… just two hours up the road to Kosciuszko.

The most beautiful place near Canberra is… it’s hard to beat the sunsets from on top of Mt Ainslie.
