Everything you need to know about canberra. ONE DESTINATION.

The best coffee in Canberra. As voted by you.

Posted on

Last year we asked you to tell us where to find the best coffee in Canberra and you…definitely delivered.

Sending in hundreds of comments (240 to be exact), you told us where you think the best roasters, brewers, and baristas are—which was perfect because it felt like every time we wrote a list of SOME of the best coffee shops in Canberra we would get absolutely inundated with comments berating us for not including everyone’s faves.

Not that it’s a bad thing—but while we would love (and I mean LOVE) to spend our days driving all over Canberra, we honestly just don’t have the time. Cause, you know, we have jobs and families and sometimes like to sleep. So, in honour of International Coffee Day on Sunday 1 October, we’ve decided to republish YOUR mega list to celebrate the magic elixir.

You’re welcome—and whether it’s a latte, long mac, short black, piccolo, batch brew or cold drip, drink up.

COMING IN THE TOP THREE

Pressed Coffee Co (City)

Coffee, bagels, and banter: apparently that’s all you want from a café. Located in the city, Pressed Coffee Co is another fave for those who love their brews rich, strong, and smooth. Also a big shout out to barista Mandy for keeping Canberrans well caffeinated in the city.

10 Hobart Pl, Canberra | Open five days a week. Monday to Thursday 6.30 am – 3.30 pm and Friday 6.30 am – 3.00 pm.

Kita Café (Narrabundah)

Warm, friendly (and extremely good with alternative milk), Kita is Canberra’s only after-hours café—and you sure love it. Our fave comments from our voters?

“Because no one else is doing coffee at that time. God’s work.”, “It’s exactly how I like it every time—the quality of the beans and milk is incredible, let alone the latte art 🤌🏼” and “ONLY PLACE THAT DOESNT BURN MY OAT MILK AND ACTUALLY VALUES PLANT BASED MILK.”

59 Boolimba Cres, Narrabundah | Open four days a week. Wednesday to Thursday, 6 pm – 6 am and Friday to Saturday 6 pm – 12 pm | kitakafe.com.au

Lava Espresso (Weston, Phillip and Kingston)

The stand out at Lava Espresso? The unpretentiousness of the staff (and the coffee). Noting that at all three Lava locations “the coffee, staff and atmosphere are a vibe”, we feel that one Canberra coffee lover summed it up best: “just bloody tasty!”

1/38 Townshend St, Phillip; 34 Eyre St, Kingston; 45 Brierly St, Weston  | Open seven days a week. Hours vary at each location and we’re very lazy, so how about you Google this one? | facebook.com/Lava.Espresso.Bars

Brew & Brew Espresso Bar (City)

“The perfect coffee, I can’t fault it. I drink my coffee on oat milk and they are somehow able to make it super creamy and delicious (other places make it and it comes out quite watery). The coffee is strong enough without having to ask for an extra shot and the temperature is always perfect, just a bit too hot where I can take a while to sip on it and enjoy it but not scalding hot where it burns your mouth. Plus the service is very fast and the team there is very friendly and welcoming!”
