Akiba’s turning 10 and celebrating with a night of free food!

You read that right. To celebrate 10 years of serving some of the best Asian fusion food in the city, Akiba will be hosting a night of free dining on Monday 23 December, meaning you can double your dumpling order without paying a cent.

Also seeing the launch of an official charity partnership between Akiba and men’s mental health charity, The Fly Program, all food ordered on the night will go uncharged, with patrons only required to purchase drinks and encouraged donate to the program. The catch? It’s only from 7 pm with tables of up to five available. It will be a strictly first come first serve basis with seating times limited to 1.5 hours.

But don’t worry – if you get stuck waiting in line, Akiba will be handing out some of their famous entrees (yes, including bao buns). Worth it.

Monster is doing meat again

That’s right – after four years as an herbivore, The Monster at Ovolo’s Monster Kitchen & Bar is now an omnivore.

Answering guests’ requests to bring more protein back, while the menu is still plant-forward foodies will now find a mix of items that showcase both the best of veggies and meat. Think: tender Gundagai lamb shoulder GLQ5+, served with house-made mint jelly and house-made ricotta scarpinocc.

With something for everyone, there’s no need to compromise at your next dinner date.

It looks like Ganjees’ former spot on Lonsdale Street is getting a new tenant – and fans of modern Indian cuisine won’t be disappointed.
