2020 called and it wants its niche nickname back – the Ken Behrens Café is now open.
Ahh 2020. A year so turbulent and heartbreaking that it almost feels like a fever dream. But in all the darkness, there was a little bit of light: the wave of Canberra pride that rose following an innocent auto-captioning glitch during an ACT Government presser.
Quickly going viral, Ken Behrens took over the Territory – spawning T-shirts, Facebook frames, memes, and more. And while we thought Ken had faded into oblivion, it seems one café has decided to immortalise the name.
Opening its doors on University Avenue, the Ken Behrens Café & Burgers is serving breakfast and lunch items themed around the nickname– serving everything from B&E Rolls and freshly brewed coffee to gourmet burgers.

Looking for some snacks for the road? There are also Ken’s Sweet and Spicy Wings, Ken’s Wing Kings, Behrens BBQ Fries, and Capital Cheese Fries.
