Canberra winters are certainly not for the faint-hearted. But unlike some of us, what does…
Has anyone else been having cheese platter dreams?
These are strange times indeed, but while we are all wearing tracksuits in the comfort of our own homes, there is never a better time to consider a cheese platter. Or an antipasto platter, or charcuterie platter.
While it is unlikely anyone is going to go to the effort of braving a supermarket to buy all those odds and ends that make a platter truly delightful, the team at Amici Bar, one of our favourite new openings of 2019, have heeded our concerns.
They have made a number of changes to bring a much-needed Amici experience to your home during the time of coronavirus—and the service doesn’t stop at platters.
If, for instance, you have a sudden gin crisis, and need an urgent delivery, they can sort you out. Same goes for whiskey, wine, vodka, beer, tequila and Aperol.
Run out of milk? Amici is also now delivering a range of staples, including eggs, every sort of milk you could want (we are talking the full gamut from full-cream to skim, lactose-free, soy and coconut cream), and even toilet paper.
And if you find yourself in that strange limbo of having enough energy to make dinner, but not enough to actually leave the house to get to the supermarket, you can order Rummo pasta, and tinned or jarred tomatoes and get creative.
Bung in a loaf of bread, some gourmet butter, and a home-made cannoli kit and you have literally everything you need to survive a global pandemic.
But if we were doing an Amici delivery order, we’d make ours pizza.
Yes, those traditional hand-stretched pizzas are made fresh for every order, and if cheese is the theme of this article, then may we highly recommend the Formaggi—a luscious yet simple cheese pizza.
So if you’re after a quick meal with a bottle of Rose to wash it all down with, then pick up the phone.
In order to assist customers, Amici has cut its usual 2-hour waiting period for pick-up order to half an hour.
It is also open from 11 am-8 pm daily. Amici is servicing a huge area code for deliveries—at a flat rate of $10. Check out if they come to you in their FAQ section. All deliveries are no-touch.
Amici is offering the first 50 Her Canberra readers $5 delivery with the code HERCBR5. Valid until 8/5/20, one use per person.
