We spill the beans on Espresso Room opening at Canberra Centre
Posted on
Canberra Centre has plenty of places to grab a coffee.
But we predict serious caffeinds will dance a little dance when a new Espresso Room opens outside Coles in August.
Taking over the open-air space where La Sable used to be on the ground floor, Espresso Room founder Michael Rose said he could not think of a more central location for his 15th store (14 in Canberra and one in Brisbane).
Espresso Room stocks and serves ONA coffee in a long-running partnership between Michael and ONA coffee guru Sasa Sestic. It will mean that not only will Canberrans be able to dash up from the underground carpark to grab their award-winning coffee fix before they get stuck into some shopping, but they can also stock up on Wildflour sourdoughs and baguettes (Michael’s other business) on their way out the door.
Espresso Room aims to be a spot for a quick coffee and snack, from fresh Wildflour gourmet sandwiches and salads, to baked savoury and sweet treats. Over the years, Wildflour has built a reputation for its sweet baked goods, notably its croissants, so those missing their daily sugar fix from La Sable will have something new to focus on.
But for Michael, the main attraction has always been, and will continue to be, the coffee.
“I know Canberrans right across the city expect excellent coffee and this new space in the very centre of the Canberra Centre, puts us right in the middle of things.”
The new shopfront is about to undergo an extensive fit-out before the lattes start flowing in August. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop!
