You can leave your hat on: award-winning dining you can order in lockdown

Posted on

Missing your fix of fine dining? Canberra’s hatted and awarded restaurants have you covered with dine-at-home options.

The Good Food Guide has long been the bible for Australian foodies. Before COVID slammed the brakes on its production in 2019, it doled out hats to 10 Canberra restaurants. Similarly, the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) Chef Hat Awards highlights the country’s best dining experiences, in which Canberra is well-represented.

And while some of the much-awarded stalwarts (Aubergine, Courgette, RAKU and Ottoman) have chosen to remain closed during lockdown, others have transformed their elevated dining experience into something more suitable for the home dining table.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to enjoy food from one of Canberra’s best restaurants—according to Good Food and AGFG—while leaving your hat (and perhaps even your ugg boots) on, here’s how.

An important note: while all listings are correct at time of publication, it’s lockdown and restaurants’ circumstances and offerings can change quickly. Please check with the individual restaurants for the most up-to-date information.

Bar Rochford

Order a meat or vego dinner pack for $55 per person alongside your favourite bottle of wine or a house-made cocktail. Roch-bottom has you covered with everything you have been missing this lockdown, available for pickup or delivery to CBD, inner north and inner south.

The Feast Package (designed for two at $220) boasts delish highlights like 45 Day Dry Age 1kg T-Bone Bistecca Fiorentina, Basque Cheesecake with Passionfruit and Vanilla, and Booming Burrata with San Danielle Prosciutto while the Fiesta package (2-4 people for $299) kicks things up a notch with oysters, smoked mortadella cheddar buns and not one, not two but four DIY cocktail kits. Cheers to that!
