3500 happy tails wagging thanks to ACT Foster and Rescue

Meet Rosie, the sweet black pug who holds the distinction of being the 3500th dog rescued and rehomed by ACT Rescue and Foster (ARF) since it began as a volunteer organisation in 2001.
Rosie’s celebrating this auspicious milestone by being held in the arms of ACT Senator and Finance Minister Katy Gallagher because not only is Katy a self-avowed “mad dog lover” but because Katy was a founding member of ARF and has been a supporter ever since.
Rosie’s new parents, Jan and Alan Masters, are also ARF fans, having met and fallen in love with Rosie despite thinking there was no room in their hearts for anyone but Frank.
“We already had Frank our pug and I didn’t think we needed another dog until I read about Rosie on the ARF Facebook page. I was smitten as soon as I saw her and knew we could give her a wonderful life and that she’d be a great companion for Frank,” Jan said.

Katy Gallagher, can answer pointed political questions while pup-wrangling.
“Our experience with the whole adoption process has been fantastic. I would definitely recommend my friends adopting a dog through ARF – you guys do such wonderful work.”
Katy broke Parliamentary protocol yesterday by doing media interviews with Rosie in arms as she praised the work of all the ARF volunteers who tirelessly rescue pups from the pound and find them loving homes.
“Rosie here is much-loved gorgeous dog who has been given a second chance,” she said. “The pound isn’t a place for a dog long term.”
Noting that ARF spent considerable time and energy matching dogs and owners to ensure a successful placement, Katy said “Rosie has won the jackpot for sure”.
And coming from the forecourt of Parliament House, a place which is usually filled with argument and in-fighting, we want to take this moment to paws and agree with her.

Like many a politician, Frank looks a little perturbed by the media scrum.
If you have room in your heart for a pup like Rosie, or maybe you’d like to support the work of the ARF volunteers by donate, you can access details on all dogs up for adoption at fosterdogs.org.
