As we retreat indoors under government instruction, local businesses have understandably taken a hit.
But our city’s desire to support local hasn’t gone away—and a new website is helping Canberrans do just that.
www.LocalMotion.com.au has been created by GoBoat and Capital Paddle owner Nick Tyrrell in partnership with Eric Di Cuollo from www.ed.com.au to allow Canberrans to discover how local business is adapting to COVID-19 restrictions at a glance.
Nick explains that the website’s creation stemmed from his and Eric’s desire to support Canberra’s businesses through the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
“So many small business owners around the country don’t have time to create websites, let alone Facebook pages in the best of times,” says Nick.
“So I got together with Eric…to build something quick and simple and see if we can help out the small business community.”
Businesses can list themselves on LocalMotion for free and communicate to customers their hours, services and adapted business practices.
Some innovative practices Nick has noted so far include contactless dog walking, egg deliveries and apps for pre-ordering coffee.
“People in the community really want to support their local small businesses, and LocalMotion is really about helping forge those connections at this critical time,” adds Nick.
“LocalMotion is for every small business, from the sole trader lawn mowing service to local restaurants or even farm-gate producers.”
