Know an amazing Canberra businesswoman?
Posted on
Most of us know a woman behind an innovative small to medium business or start-up.
Champions of the hustle and purveyors of hard work, Canberra’s businesswomen put in the hard yards when it comes to their chosen vocation. With this effort too often going unrecognised, the annual Canberra in Women in Business Awards serves to pay tribute to those women making strides in the world of business.
Canberra Women in Business (CWB) promotes and recognises all of the exceptional women breaking the glass ceiling in business, industry, government and not for profit sectors. Aiming to provide business development opportunities and act as a hub of information for women in the Canberra region, the organisation holds an annual awards night to celebrate the achievements of movers and shakers across the ACT.
This year, the awards have swelled from five categories to nine, with all awards open to CWB members and non-members. The new categories are: Mentor of the Year; Public Sector Leader; Not for Profit Leader; Innovation; and Institute of Managers and Leaders (IML) Leaderships.
“We are looking to promote the awards outside our traditional audience for greater participation and recognition within these categories and our original ones,” says CWB President Peta Swarbrick.
CWB urges anyone who knows a Canberra woman in business to nominate them for an award, with an expert panel of judges enlisted to recognise the best and brightest in the across all sectors.
“We want every businesswoman in Canberra to nominate, so we can find Canberra’s Business Woman of the Year,” says Peta.
“We have a panel of judges from the small business, media, corporate, marketing, and not-for-profit sectors and have partnered with some very successful and community-minded local businesses including Chamberlains, Dixon Advisory, Solace Creations, Rubik3, Three Sides Marketing, Pialligo Estate, Canberra Weekly and Her Canberra.”
Got stage fright? Never fear. All finalists will receive media training from award-winning print and radio journalist, Ginger Gorman, to equip them with the ultimate acceptance speech.
With just two days to go until submissions close, get in quick to nominate the savvy business women in your life. To nominate, simply enter the name and email address of the woman you wish to put forward on the Canberra Women in Business nomination site.
Nominees will be contacted in the following days with further steps to complete their awards application.
Finalists will be announced on 12 October, with the Awards Night held on 8 November at Pialligo Estate.
