Canberra running clubs to get your heart rate racing this summer
Posted on
Run clubs have seen a significant boom in the past few years.
They’ve become a staple in the Canberra exercise scene, giving runners an opportunity to boast about their Strava stats and connect with likeminded people while getting a few extra kays in.
It will come as no surprise, there are a bunch of Canberra running clubs suitable for all needs and levels of fitness. Here’s a list to get your heart racing.
Running For Resilience
Arguably the biggest running club in Canberra, Running for Resilience is a community group that meets at The Dock four times a week. They welcome all abilities (whether it’s for a walk or a run) and then head off for a drink and a chat afterwards. They aim to empower people to overcome their personal struggles by never giving up, and to keep moving.
Underground Run Club
If you love a chat while you run to distract you from how many kilometres you have left, then Underground Run Club is for you. They meet at Mocan and Green Gout on Sunday mornings.
Sunday Sesh
As the name suggests, Sunday Sesh is held on Sundays in Barton. They’re an enthusiastic bunch of runners who are keen on smashing their running goals. Similar to other running clubs in Canberra, they are welcoming of all levels and abilities.
PAX Run Club
PAX Run Club began as a simple idea in April, with the goal of showing participants the power of consistently showing up. It’s designed as a space where individuals can challenge themselves, push a little further than they think possible, and discover just how much strength and resilience they truly have. The crew get together every Sunday at 7:30am for a 5km loop, starting from Lil Mama’s in Kingston.
Speedy Geese
The Speedy Geese are a diverse, inclusive running crew who take flight at the stairs of Parliament House on Mondays and Thursdays at noon. The regular runners in the group suggest and coordinate the bi-weekly runs. Nothing is compulsory and everything is optional.

The Girls Club Canberra Run Club
The Girls Club Canberra Run Club has been created in direct response to community demand, after a hugely popular run social sparked calls for a regular, girls-only running group. The vision is a consistent weekly run, same place, same time, with multiple pace groups to suit beginners through to experienced runners, followed by a relaxed coffee and chat.
Canberra Frontrunners
Keen for a change of scenery on your weekend runs? The Frontrunners are an inclusive running group for LGBTQIA+ people and allies in Canberra. They pop up at different locations around Canberra, meeting at 9 am on Saturdays, and encourage people to stay behind afterwards for a coffee and a bit to eat.
Rookie Running
Rookie Running is a supportive, women-only training program created by Females in Training (FIT) for anyone keen to build confidence, consistency and community through running. Kicking off on 10 February, the 9-week program gently guides participants towards completing a 5km event at the Canberra Times Marathon Festival on 11 April 2026. With three coached, in-person sessions each week and a warm, encouraging approach, it’s perfect whether you’re new to running or getting back into it.
Park Run
Park Run is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or sit and spectate. It’s a 5km run that takes place every Saturday morning, with a 2km junior park run for four to 14 year olds and their families. There is no time limit, and no one finishes last, and the atmosphere is always positive.
