Canberra’s Spotify 2025 Wrapped revealed: what we’ve been streaming all year
Posted on
The moment music lovers have been waiting for has arrived – Spotify Wrapped 2025 is here, and it’s serving up some fascinating insights into what Canberrans have been listening to all year long.
While Taylor Swift might dominate playlists across the nation (she’s claimed Australia’s top spot for the third year running), Canberra’s musical tastes tell their own rather intriguing story. Our city’s most-streamed artist list reads like a who’s who of contemporary pop and hip-hop royalty: Swift leads the pack, followed by Drake, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Kendrick Lamar.
Alex Warren’s Ordinary has captured hearts locally, taking the number one spot for Canberra’s most-streamed song. Right behind it sits back to friends by sombr – in fact, the rising artist claims two spots in Canberra’s top five with undressed also making the cut. Gracie Abrams’ That’s So True and Billie Eilish’s BIRDS OF A FEATHER round out our top tracks.
I am claiming some personal responsibility for KPop Demon Hunters (the soundtrack from the Netflix film) being Canberra’s most-played album, with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Gracie Abrams’ The Secret of Us, SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA, and Alex Warren’s You’ll Be Alright, Kid completing the top five.
This year’s Wrapped experience comes loaded with fresh features that dig deeper into your listening habits. There’s a new Listening Age comparison showing how your musical tastes stack up against others in your age group, and the Fan Leaderboard might just confirm whether you’re truly among your favourite artist’s biggest supporters worldwide. You’ll also be sorted into one of six Clubs based on your unique streaming style – a fun way to celebrate the habits that defined your year.
My Wrapped reveals that I’m in the top 0.2% of ATEEZ listeners and I’m apparently a ‘Recruiter’– something that will come as no surprise to anyone I’ve tried to lure into K-Pop.
Beyond our city’s favourites, the national picture reveals a few surprises: The Wiggles have claimed the title of Australia’s most-streamed local artists (mums driving around with kids, I feel you), while Vance Joy’s Riptide continues its seemingly eternal reign as the country’s favourite homegrown track.
For podcast enthusiasts, The Joe Rogan Experience has maintained its stranglehold on the top spot both locally and globally, while true crime continues its cultural dominance with Casefile True Crime leading Australia’s local podcast scene.
