A giant clothes swap and inspiring panels: Make a difference at the Zero Waste Festival
Posted on
What do low waste Instagram sensation Camille de Bourgh and environmental marketplace co-creator Sammy Williamson have in common?
They’re Canberra locals who are making it easy for us all to take a step towards zero waste.
Canberra’s Zero Waste Festival is happening this Saturday 30 April from 11 am – 4 pm at Kambri, ANU. The festival features speaker panels, stalls, workshops, a giant clothes swap and children’s activities. Camille and Sammy are both on speaker panels, along with a heap of other fabulous Canberra locals. Entry is free. Register for workshops and the clothes swap, as they have a small fee to cover costs.
Feeling guilty about all that COVID-19 waste? Bring your single-use face masks to the festival and Zero Waste Revolution will send them off to be recycled. Think: unusual toiletry items, like toothpaste tubes and dental floss containers.
The festival theme is ‘one person, a world of difference’. People who want to be inspired and learn practical, zero waste tips should come along to the panel discussions.
Zero in our Own Backyard: Local waste-reducing trailblazers discuss how to make an impactful difference at home and the workplace.
Be a Hero of Zero: A thought-provoking discussion illuminating ways our communities can create and implement waste-reducing practices that have a global impact.
Our Roadmap to Zero: Festival ideas and strategies come together live on stage, creating a roadmap for Canberrans to put zero waste into action.
Interested in making a difference, having fun and snagging a new style? Sign-up to the festival’s giant clothes swap. People who want an in-depth exploration of food waste or how to cut their home’s waste in half can sign-up for our workshops.
Children’s activities will include box construction, craft and face painting.
