Do you have Canberra’s most photogenic pet?

Get those photos clicking, because the Domestic Violence Crisis Service is on the hunt for the 12 cutest pets to feature in their 2019 DVCS Pet Calendar!

Sometimes when people leave violent and/or controlling relationships they need to take their pets because sometimes those pets are at risk of abuse or neglect.

While some people can be accommodated with their pets, sadly not everyone can be. And to avoid having to rehome the pet, the pet needs to be placed into emergency pet accommodation. Sometimes, the pet needs their vaccinations to be updated urgently before going into emergency accommodation. While DVCS has a wonderful relationship with local vets, we still need to cover some basic costs and that’s why this calendar is so important.

So how do you launch your pet’s modelling career? Simple! Snap a quick photo of your pet and then register them via this link. Registration costs $5, plus a small administration fee. Once registered, you will need to email a copy of your confirmation email with your chosen snap to community@dvcs.org.au

Once entries close on 30 September 2018, 12 celebrity judges will each choose their fave pet!

The super wonderful Celebrity Judges are Amanda Whitley (HerCanberra), Adam Shirley (ABC Canberra), Kristen Henry (Mix 106.3), Christian Lealiifano (Brumbies Rugby), Alan Tongue (NRL), Juliet Moody (SparrowFolk), Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry, Sia Soliola (Canberra Raiders), David Tyack (Canberra Milk), Derek Tidy (Crimsafe), Mirjana Wilson (DVCS) and DVCS Staff as a collective.

The 12 winners will then have their very own private photo shoot with one of the volunteer photographers, with each winner to receive an electronic copy of the final print to be used in the calendar. Calendars are available for purchase now, with delivery to be expected in November, just in time for Christmas.

The calendar simply must reflect all the wonderful pets of Canberra, fur, feathers and scales!

Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, birds, snakes, horses, turtles, cattle, lizards, mice, pigs and everything in between. In the lead up to the judging, DVCS will be sharing entries on social media for everyone to see, so be sure to follow DVCS on Facebook and Instagram.

We can’t wait to see the finished product!
