Pack your swimmers, Canberra – from this winter we’ll be flying direct to Bali!

It’s been hotly anticipated goss – which airline will be next to take us direct from Canberra to somewhere exotic (and hopefully warm).
Because, let’s be honest, asf we wrote earlier this week, there’s simply nothing better than driving straight to Canberra Airport and saying bon voyage to the crowds and stress of literally any other airport.
Well, the beans have finally been spilt (or should we say, the poolside G&T) – Canberrans’ next direct destination will be none other than the Island of the Gods, Bali.
Commencing on 14 June, Canberrans will be able to fly direct to this Indonesian paradise on full-service Batik Air (part of the Lion Group) three times weekly. Did someone say “Villa for five, please?”.
Better yet, with Bali’s bustling Denpasar Airport accommodating an estimated 65,000 travellers per day, this connection will also act as a gateway for those wanting to travel on to other international destinations.
“Bali is an amazing destination that blends culture, nature, and adventure and appeals to all types of travellers,” says Canberra Airport’s Head of Aviation, Michael Thomson.
“We are also excited about the opportunity to connect Canberra to Asia through Batik’s extensive network.”
Stay tuned for more (and maybe lock in some leave dates…?).
