Christmas shopping. Now there are two words sure to strike terror into the hearts of…
It may be playing favourites, but no silversmith has made a mark on Canberra quite like Alison Jackson.
With jewellery that spans the chicest of minimalist studs to elegant statement necklaces and tableware that can’t help but stand out from the crowd, this eponymous studio has grown to become a staple of the Canberra-lover’s jewellery box.
Established in 2008 by silversmith and jewellery Alison Jackson and run in partnership with her partner in life and work Dan Lorrimer, all Alison Jackson Studio pieces are conceptualised, designed and created in their Braidwood metalsmithing workshop.
And now—you can even get Alison’s signature minimalist hoops and bars made-to-order. Available exclusively through the online store, the collection features a range of striking rings, earrings and bracelets inspired by the timeless elegance of architecture and the play of light.
“We like to surround ourselves with images, objects and materials that we find inspiring and intriguing, we often look to architecture and nature for inspiration,” explains Alison.
“The play of light, shadow and texture on buildings, trees and unusual structures stimulates us and helps to guide and refine the design process.”
As for how she images the pieces to be worn, Alison says that while elegance is at the centre of her designs, these are pieces for any and every occasion.
“Each piece is designed for the everyday. Whether it’s to finish an outfit or add something special to brighten the day, we create pieces that are reached for again and again adding a little bit of timeless style to each day.”
