High Tea and High Fashion for Hartley Lifecare

On Sunday 8 July, Albert Hall will host the inaugural Royal Hartley High Tea & Fashion Parade to raise funds to support people with physical and complex disabilities. 

The fashion parade will be conducted by Victoria’s Models along with some of Hartley’s clients, who will be wearing the latest boutique winter fashions from online store Birdsnest, a women’s clothing store based in Cooma that seeks to inspire confidence in women of all sizes. The parade is being completely styled by Francesca Droulias of Styled by Francesca, who is also donating her time for this event.

As for the high tea component, sweet and savoury treats and a glass of bubbles on arrival will be served alongside live entertainment, a silent auction, photo booth and a special tiara raffle to celebrate the Royal Wedding. There will also be a bar selling champagne, wine and soft drink.

Hartley Lifecare was founded in 1962 has been a local and specialised disability service which has helped to provide high-quality residential, respite, recreational, transport and community services for children and adults with physical and complex disabilities. The focus of Hartley is on making a difference for people living with disabilities, including families or carers within the ACT and surrounding regions.

“While many disabilities develop before birth, the reality is that a disability or brain injury can happen unexpectedly to anybody at any stage of their life,” says Kellie Edwards, Senior Manager at Hartley Lifecare.

“Hartley exists to support people with a wide range of complex disabilities through our programs and services delivered by our exceptionally skilled and caring staff.”

Raising funds for this organisation is paramount as Hartley relies on funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), corporate partners and individual donors and the funds that will be raised through this event will enable them to expand and enhance the services they provide to people living with disabilities in our local community.

Kellie anticipates the attendance of 250 people at the High Tea & Fashion Parade.

“We are really hoping to make this an annual event with more clients getting involved each year.”
