There’s so much to love about New Zealand design and this year FASHFEST guests will…
Gather your girlfriends and grab a glass of bubbly, birdsnest has officially launched the Nest Lounge: an exclusive space dedicated to a premium shopping experience.
After months of lockdown, enjoying some retail therapy is at the top of everyone’s lists but birdsnest shoppers know that the beloved women’s clothing and lifestyle brand is more than a store, it’s an experience.
Founded by Jane Cay in the hope of providing an inclusive online space for women of all shapes and sizes, the beloved brick and mortar store in Cooma is a popular shopping destination for Canberrans—but now it’s becoming so much more.
Designed in collaboration with local artist, Kate Litchfield, the Nest Lounge offers birdnest customers a place to enjoy, relax and have a personalised shopping experience while creating memories with family and friends.
“We really wanted to create a space where women can come together to relax and enjoy a private and an even more special shopping experience,” says store manager Liza Dyball.
“We are all busting to spend lost time with girlfriends and this space is the perfect way to spoil yourselves or a loved one, or to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday.”
With three different spaces to book depending on your shopping desires and your own ‘shop bird’ on hand to assist you, it sounds like the perfect chance to escape the city to find your inner confidence and a new wardrobe to match.
Open from Thursdays to Saturdays and available by appointment only, the Nest Lounge kicks off each two-hour session with a glass of bubbles and some delicious nibbles.
The Mini Lounge offers two change rooms, perfect for couples or mothers and daughters enjoying a girls’ day out. If you’re looking for a group try on session, the Alcove, a four-room changeroom space is the perfect spot to join your girlfriends in a style and it can be curtained off for privacy.
For a group of four to six people, the Main Lounge offers four changerooms along with access to the full lounge area so you can relax with your bubbles while your friends show off their finds—but, of course, for a more special occasion you can always book the whole space.
There are also extras available to make the day even better, including access to Live Events on Facebook, Nest Tours, fashion parades and even your own photographer to capture the special moments.
Offering a new way for friends to connect while incorporating the fun of reinventing the wardrobe, the team has been planning this new way of instilling confidence in women via customer experience for several years.
“For many years, we have seen an opportunity to extend the store, and enhance our face-to-face customer experience,” says birdsnest’s spokesperson Tahlia Nicholson.
“We were able to use the periods of store closure during COVID to put this into action which also gave the team something really exciting to focus on.”
As they continue to build birdsnest nest into a fun, fashionable and innovative experience, the team is looking to the future as they begin their next enterprise: an accommodation element to encourage people visiting from beyond the region to stay longer. With renovations beginning on a historical home on Lambie Street, the intention is to adapt to the growing demand for regional travel.
With a trip to Cooma now on the cards, there’s only one thing to think about: Rounding up your ‘wingbirds’ and making room in your wardrobe for some brand new treats!
