Plan the perfect event with Oh Happy Day

We all know the Internet can be an amazing tool for planning events, but relying too heavily on Google can have its downfalls.
There’s no guarantee those flowers you ordered, caterer you picked or band you already paid a deposit for are going to turn out exactly as you expected. Unless of course, you meet with each business in person – but who has time for that?
Enter Oh Happy Day: a brand new event that gives party planners the unique opportunity to see, hear and taste all that local and interstate vendors have to offer all under the one roof.
Over 24 businesses – everything from fashion labels, beauty brands, photographers, event stylists, stationers, florists, celebrants and caterers – will have stalls at the event, to be held at the National Portrait Gallery on Saturday, 24 October.
Event co-organiser Tegan McAuley says each stall will be interactive, hands-on and beautifully styled.
“All of the businesses attending the event are experienced in their fields and want to help visitors to plan the best celebration ever,” Tegan says.
“Lots of them will be selling their wares and doing demonstrations, so if you want to come away with a piece of jewellery, gifts for your guests, skincare, or even a new manicure, you can find it all at Oh Happy Day.”
For the blokes, there will be a ‘Mo Happy Day’ gentlemen’s space, which will also be interactive.
Styled by Lovely Events, Tegan says it’s a space where guys can hang out, have their hair cut by Cock & Crown Barbershop, check out the suit and clothing range from Ministry Menswear and get tips on skincare and grooming.
Naturally, it wouldn’t be a party without food and drink; so between 1-5pm, guests can enjoy a live cooking station, pop-up bar and coffee cart presented by the Trippas White Group.
Sweet Bones Bakery will be selling their delicious vegan baked goodies, while local furniture company Boy and Girl Co will set up a seating area in the Gallery’s Western Courtyard.
Tegan says all of Oh Happy Day’s vendors are local, however many of them travel interstate (and some internationally!) for their work so those planning events outside of Canberra will still get the most out of the line-up.
“Our goal was to carefully curate the best Canberra has to offer and we believe we’ve achieved that, so we’re very excited,” she says.
