Banded bottles are a new collection of glass blown vessels by glass maker Rob Schwartz.
Crafted through hot sculpting and cane pickups, the Banded Bottle draws the viewer beyond themselves and into the detail of the vessel and its form. This process, paired with the organic nature of hand sculpting hot blown glass, reflects the fluidity and spontaneity of nature through an abstracted and evocative avenue.
US born Robert Schwartz is a mid-career glass artist, Glassworks Studio Tenant and Head Teaching Artist specialising in glass blowing. Since arriving in Australia, Rob has played a vital role in the glass making community in Canberra, working on many major commissions such as the glass restoration of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. He is currently a studio artist at Canberra Glassworks, teaching Glass Blowing Beginners there most weekends.
