In a shady little spot at Dickson Shops, you can discover a treasure trove of locally-made goodness.
Trove Canberra Cooperative was established five years ago by a small group of Canberran makers to provide a shop front from which local artists and designers could sell their high quality, locally created products.
Having grown exponentially since then, Trove has relocated four times to make way for more makers to join the movement—and bring even more locally-made treasures to Canberrans.
“To say we have been embraced by the Canberran community is an understatement,” says co-owner Annette Clarke.
“Our last twelve months in Dickson has been incredible, we have even tripled business turnover. We have also been recently nominated for a Local Business Award which is very exciting.”
Trove Canberra currently stocks 24 regional makers in their Dickson store across a range of mediums including jewellery, fashion, millinery, ceramics, original artworks, homewares, candles, soaps, cards and chocolates.
“If you are after something unique and original, we have something for everyone,” adds co-owner Jennifer Baird. “Don’t forget when you buy handmade a maker is doing a happy dance.”
Right now, Trove is offering 15% off everything on their website until the end of the July, and if you’re looking for something to look forward to, on 15 November, Trove is hosting a Fashion Parade, showcasing Trove makers (fashion and accessories) as well as local students and designers.
The Trove Slow Fashion Parade, with an emphasis on sustainability, will also have workshops, music and refreshments, all locally supplied and thanks to a City Renewal Authority grant.
In-store, Trove has strict COVID-safe policies in place with a one-in-one-out customer rule and locally-made hand sanitiser on entry.
