Love op-shopping? This Sunday’s second-hand fashion market is for you

Posted on

The cozzie livs are cozzie living and it’s no secret that fast fashion is impacting our planet, so it makes sense that shopping second-hand has never been cooler.

If this resonates with you and your wardrobe, this weekend’s Three Sixty Fashion Market is your chance to snap up some curated finds from a range of stallholders, including fashion, shoes and accessories both pre-loved and new.

One of Canberra’s longest-running second-hand fashion markets, the market will take place from 10 am until 3 pm this Sunday 23 June at the Fitters Workshop in Kingston with free entry and free parking.

“It’s a challenging time to love fashion,” admits our Managing Editor Beatrice Smith, who herself will have a stall at the market this Sunday. “Money is tight, fast fashion is everywhere and size inclusivity has still not made its way into some popular brands’ offerings. But that’s why it’s always so exciting to shop second-hand – you never know what treasures you might uncover from someone with the same shape and taste as you.”

While Beatrice is excited to offload her extensive wardrobe of cottage-core dresses and occasionwear ahead of an impending overseas move (“I love it all, I just can’t take it with me!”) she’s also excited to see what other stallholders have on offer.

“I am definitely there to sell, not buy…but you just never know what you’ll come across at these sorts of markets…what sort of hidden gems might be on offer.”

“There’s something so special about finding someone whose style you want to steal…and then be able to literally steal – okay, buy – it.”

Contributing to a more circular economy and upcycling your wardrobe in the process? Shut up and take our money.
