What the heck is carboxytherapy? An explainer
Posted on
You might be a skincare junkie, but have you heard of carboxytherapy?
We delve into this little-known rejuvenation procedure with Dr Deanne from Ogee Facial Rejuvenation.
What is it?
Carboxytherapy, or carbon dioxide therapy, is a non-surgical treatment that can refine and rejuvenate skin, remove fatty deposits and support a variety of skin concerns.
So how does it work?
During treatment, gaseous carbon dioxide (CO2) is injected into the skin in tiny amounts. The body rejects the presence of CO2 and interprets it as a lack of oxygen, which means blood flows to the area to deliver a powerful oxygen boost and promote healing and tissue regeneration to combat the perceived deficiency.
The process can create better blood circulation, boost the formation of new blood vessels, and improved metabolism while stimulating the production of the growth factors collagen and elastin for skin rejuvenation.
What are some of the potential benefits?
Carboxytherapy is said to help with brightening skin tone, eliminating puffiness around the eyes, fading fine lines and wrinkles, muting scars, reducing dark under-eye circles, rejuvenating the face, smoothing skin texture, shrinking pores and tightening skin.
Is it painful?
No, carboxytherapy is pain-free. Safety is paramount to the success of any treatment, and this method provided by Ogee is among the safest on the market today.
How long does it take and is there any downtime?
To reap the benefits of treatment, you only need to reserve between 15 to 30 minutes per session. Even better, there’s no downtime associated with treatment. You can return to your regular activities immediately following the therapy.
How soon could I see results?
Many people see results offered by carbon dioxide treatment straight away. As with some other skin treatment, the results improve with time.
