All new Fitness Precinct arrives in Greenway

Posted on

Of all of the gyms in Canberra, I’m perhaps best acquainted with Club Lime.

I started working behind the reception desk at CISAC during my first year of uni, met many of my friends through the gym, and over the years it’s been the backdrop to my own fitness journey as I’ve navigated different training phases and styles.

While I might be more familiar than most (I have indeed been called “Club Lime girl” on more than one night out), my story isn’t particularly unique. The brand has been around for well over a decade and has become well loved in the Canberra community for its convenience (it seems like there’s a Club on every corner), quality and innovation.

It seems Club Lime has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to training trends. They were early adopters of small group personal training when it first became popular a few years back and can always be relied upon to regularly upgrade their equipment and update their clubs and classes to reflect what’s new and innovative in the industry. With their new brand, Hiit Republic, they’ve tapped into the high-intensity interval training craze with the first club having recently opened in Greenway, and five more to be opened in the coming months.

Their ability to pivot and adapt is perhaps one of the reasons why the brand has maintained its well-loved position and continues to grow.

This weekend marks a new chapter for the brand and is particularly exciting for those of us who dwell south of Lake Burley Griffin. The brand-new Greenway Fitness Precinct features the very first Hiit Republic, a new Psycle Life Tuggeranong, and the new Studio by Club Lime. Ahead of their opening weekend, I caught up with brand ambassador and fellow ‘Club Lime girl’, Jenna Douros.

Welcome back to Canberra! How does it feel to be home?

Returning to home base and bringing Scott [Evennett] with me feels incredible. Of course, it’s amazing to be close to my family and friends, but I’m bursting at the seams with energy, power, knowledge, passion and purpose to help empower the Canberra community to get active and soak up everything our beautiful region has to offer.

Tell me about how you and your partner Scott are involved with Club Lime and what that’s been like so far?

Our role with Club Lime formed a large reason as to why Scott and I made the move to Canberra. Club Lime has been a huge part of my life and journey since I was 17. CISAC was my very first gym back when I left school and was where I decided that I too wanted to help change people’s lives through movement. It’s also where Scott and I trained every time we came home to visit. So for us, the alignment is clear and we couldn’t be prouder to be teaming up with a company that’s so focussed on the grown, health and wellness of our community.

We’ve joined the Club Lime family to host a number of speciality sessions to help educate their ever-growing member base, from celebrity sessions, group workshops and seminars, producing tutorials and building an online library. We’re also helping to launch their new boutique functional fitness division, Hiit Republic, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

The new Fitness Precinct in Tuggeranong sounds amazing – can you tell me what we can expect to find there?

Hiit Republic is on the ground level and offers a modern approach to functional high-intensity interval team training, with no two classes ever the same. Sessions vary from cardio training to resistance-based training and run between 30 and 60 minutes.

Upstairs is Viva Leisure’s first ‘Studio by Club Lime’, a designated group fitness facility with the best equipment possible. Psycle Life is next door to Hiit Republic, and follows the success of the first Psycle Life at Kingston Foreshore. With 41 state-of-the-art spin bikes and an inspiring sound system, there’ll be 18 live classes a week.

What part of the precinct are you most excited about?

The fact that it’s open 24 hours, so no matter your schedule you’ll be able to find something that suits you: whether it’s your own style workout, a virtual session, a scheduled class, or one that’s programmed into the system. I know that no matter what time of day I’m able to fit my workout in, I know that I’ll have an array of options to explore once I get there.

What do you think people are going to love about Hiit Republic?

There are loads to love that will have ‘hiiters’ hooked. Members will enjoy the wearable MyZone heart rate-based system that uses wireless and cloud technology to accurately monitor physical activity. During a workout, you have the option of having your heart rate displayed on a screen showing you how hard you are working – and you can have a name only you know, shared with our coaches, of course.

What’s super exciting is that if you miss a 5:30 am class for example, you can go in later in the day, go on Hiit Republic’s screen, look up the workout, and do it.

What about Studio by Club Lime? I hear there’s going to be over 100 classes a week – what are some of your favourites?

The new concept has been specifically designed for group fitness classes like Body Pump, Body Attack, yoga, Body Balance, and more. The huge group fitness from will be open from 4 am to midnight, with 85 virtual classes projected on a four-metre wide, floor-to-ceiling television screen (whoa, right?).

There are also thirty 31 live classes a week including Les Mills classes like GRIT, Body Balance and Body Combat.

People are busy and only getting busier, so to have 116 classes on offer in Studio by Club Lime is exactly the flexibility we all need.

Keen to try out the Greenway Fitness Precinct for yourself? This weekend, the Precint is opening its doors for Canberrans to get a taste of its new offerings.
