We’ve rounded up 10 ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Canberra, whether you’re in the mood for a fancy dinner with your beloved, a chance to find a spark with someone, a Galentine’s outing, or a cheeky night of V-day mockery.
The chocolates, roses and teddy bears lining the shelves can only mean one thing: the most romantic day of the year is almost upon us—Friday 14 February. Whether you’re in the mood for a fancy dinner with your beloved or a Galentine’s night out, there are plenty of special events happening across the city.
Feelin’ the love? Here are our top picks for Valentine’s Day 2020 in Canberra.
Beirut Bunker Bar

For the lovers and the lovelorn, Beirut Bunker Bar has created a cocktail called Harry’s Sweet Olive. The cocktail is exclusively available on 14 February and honours the marriage of Bunker co-owner Chantelle’s grandparents, Olive and Harry.
The couple met during WWII after the ship Harry was serving on, the HMAS Hobart, was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. As the ship underwent repair, Harry found himself at the Surry Hills Ballroom where he met, danced and fell in love with Olive. Three months later, they were married.
After 67 happy years of marriage, Harry passed away in December 2013. Olive’s final words to her husband were in song: ‘We’ll meet again’. Join the Bunker team in raising a glass to true love.

A loved-up dinner date doesn’t need to include starched tablecloths and candlelight. The sound of water lapping the shore, a gentle breeze, some delicious morsels eaten al fresco—there are few things more appealing on a warm Canberra day or night.
Pull up a table for two at The Pop Inn and enjoy a glass of wine and a charcuterie platter, order a gourmet hamper from Schmicnics and find the perfect picnic place, or hit the water with GoBoat. They’re all perfectly romantic.
