City Walk comes alive with the sound of music (and champagne corks popping)

During Enlighten, it is not only light that brings life to the city, but also music.
And it’s not only the national icons getting to party. City Walk will also be a place of celebration as you wander past on a Friday evening.
Aperitivo at Brunello is the concept of those creative folk at Dionysus who wanted to bring music, food and wine out into the open during the month of March.
Using the lush lawn and landscaping outside the front of Civic restaurant Brunello, they are bringing a musical act to play on Friday nights, while Brunello is offering Italian and Spanish flavours and Enomatic wine tasting experiences from all over the globe.
For the first session enjoy live performances from Anton Wurzer and Nitya Parker from 5.30 to 8.30 pm.
Pull up a chair, order half a dozen oysters and you’ll receive a complimentary glass of one Brunello’s sparklings.
Each week will be a different performer and a different taste and complimentary wine offering.

Nitya Parker
Nitya Parker is a Flamenco and Spanish classical guitarist who will spirit you away to Spain while you enjoy a drink.

Anton Wurzer
World-renown accordionist and composer Anton Wurzer plays classical, Latin American, and Continental, Rhythm ‘n Blues, Pop, Rock. Early in the 90s, jazz became his main focus, which led him to complete a degree in Jazz Piano Studies.
Isaac Dugdale, event programmer, said it was a chance to enliven City Walk and appreciate its new look and feel since being relandscaped.
“It’s the perfect place to enjoy the lush grass of City Walk while experiencing Italian and Spanish culture right here in Canberra, with food and music to match. In addition, these performances give local musicians a stage to perform for people who may not usually get to hear their music.”
Owner of Brunello Tasso Rovolis said it would be a welcome opportunity to introduce Canberrans to his new restaurant.
“The outdoor space is perfect for this sort of event and we are really excited to be a focus for City Walk pedestrians to stop, listen, and maybe pop in for an aperitivo. It’s the sort of European experience we are delighted to bring to Canberra.”
Aperitivo at Brunello will take place from 5.30 pm each Friday in March. Bookings are not required.
