Did someone say ‘brand new wine festival’? Meet Stomp Festival
Posted on
We’re well and truly in autumn now—but it’s not all bad news. How about a new wine festival?
Helmed by the lauded Canberra District Wine Industry Association (CDWIA), brand new Stomp Festival will see 25+ local winemakers and producers team up for a jam-packed (wine-packed? Grape-packed?) weekend of food and drink across Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April. That’s right, something to look forward to as the cold sets in.
The weekend will offer visitors activities across the region’s premier wineries and producers, including (but not limited to) Shaw Wines, Poachers Pantry, Murrumbateman Winery, Pankhurst Wines, Sapling Yard, Murrumbateman Chocolate Co., Eden Road Wines, Surveyors Hill Vineyards, Lake George Winery, Yarrh Wines, Lerida Estate, Gallagher Wines, Gundog Estate, Vineyard 1207, Capital Wines, Barton Estate, Contentious Character, Clonakilla, Dionysus Winery, Four Winds, Enotria Wines and Tallagandra Hill. Phew.

With the full program available online, there are truly too many activities, offerings and delicious things to list here, with each location offering a bounty of autumnal goodness.
The best part? Tickets to the weekend are just $29.50 and give you access to all wineries and producers (although yes, food and wine will be extra).
A good pour for a good cause
Stomp Festival aims to give some much-needed love to the Canberra Region’s 140+ vineyards and producers after a difficult few years that saw them battle hail, bushfires, smoke taint, and tourism withdrawal due to COVID safety measures. It’s no surprise people are excited.
“Our wineries and business have come together to create a cracking weekend of experiences for the inaugural Stomp Festival,” says President of the CDWIA, Fergus McGhie.
“The ticket price offers outstanding value. Stomp Festival will feature exclusive wine releases, grape stomping in half barrels, farm animals, live music, art, behind-the-scenes tours, barrel room tastings, back vintages, bike tours, demonstrations, picnics with pups, a hint of Spain, Italy and France, chocolates, country music legends, challenges, games and plenty of prizes.”
“We’re looking forward to having large-scale festivals back in the district.”
We’ll raise a (local) glass to that.
