Your northside breakfast guide
Posted on
After all, it is the most important meal of the day. Here’s where to find a delicious breakfast on the northside of Canberra.
There’s something about going out for breakfast. Whether it’s the leisurely pace, the promise of barista-made coffee, or simply the joy of someone else cooking for you, breakfast outings have become a beloved ritual for many.
Luckily, if you’re craving a hearty traditional breakfast, innovative culinary creations, or something a little different, the northside delivers with its own distinctive flair.
Covering both the north and inner north, pop these venues on your breakfast bucket list. Welcome to part two of our Canberra breakfast guide.
Just a note: this is by no means an extensive list to end all lists. These are just some places where we know you can get a morning meal that will leave you full and happy. Please don’t yell at us, we know there are many more places to eat out there 😊
Caffe al Lago (Gunghalin)

For those looking for a truly luxe sandwich to start the morning off right, Caffe al Lago on Yerrabi Pond is the place to go. While the menu options aren’t what you’d consider ‘traditional’ breakfast dishes, they do have a Breakfast Sandwich with eggs, ajvar, marinated goats’ cheese and fresh tomato. Enjoy it with an ONA coffee and thank us later.

Nestled in the suburb of Downer, Gang Gang has developed something of a cult following since brothers Sam, Riley, and Max Conway took over the space to bring good food and music to the inner north – so you need to pop this venue on your breakfast bucket list.
Serving seasonal modern Australian breakfast options with locally roasted coffee from Prism, the menu is ever changing, but always delicious.

Sweet Bones (Scullin)

It began as one of Lonsdale Street’s first cafes, but now Scullin has the joy of claiming Sweet Bones as their very own as the Braddon location is no more. Love for its vegan menu that tastes as good as it looks (their cinnabons have a cult following), this café will even make meat-eaters’ mouths water.

At this local gallery and café, the food is just as pretty as the art donning the walls – and it tastes just as good as well.
Using fresh and seasonal produce, it’s run by the same team behind Two Before Ten, who are passionate about serving food that’s not only good for people, but the planet too. It’s a delicious win/win.
