Luxury waterfront glamping is coming to Lake Burley Griffin

Lake Burley Griffin is scoring its first-ever luxury off-grid glamping retreat for the ultimate staycation.
Because who doesn’t want to stargaze in total serenity just minutes from the city, with hot showers, flushing toilets and a real bed?
For those who can’t resist a luxury escape, tourism startup Eco Suites Australia has recently announced the opening of their flagship collection of luxury triple-glazed glass geodesic domes on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
Expecting to welcome the first guests in December (and with construction already underway) each suite will combine panoramic water views with premium interiors, private ensuite amenities, advanced off-grid infrastructure and seamless high-tech integration – including a remote-controlled rooftop so you can gaze at the Milky Way from bed. And while Lake Burley Griffin might not be ideal for a dip, on a hot summer’s night, stargazing by the water in this peaceful off-grid getaway sounds like a breathtaking experience.
Founded on the principle that exceptional tourism should enhance rather than diminish its natural setting, Founder and Managing Director of Eco Suites Australia says that they want to redefine glamping through off-grid luxury, hotel amenities, sustainability, innovation, nature and culture.

Trust us when we say they put the capital ‘L’ into Luxe. Inside the 28-square-metre glass dome, guests will enjoy a King bed, private ensuite, rainfall shower, Wi-Fi, a telescope, Streamcast TV, and Nespresso machines, as well as complimentary minibars and breakfast baskets.
Set at Yarramundi Peninsula and overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, they’ll be fully off-grid, powered by solar, battery storage and sustainable water systems, so guests can enjoy the comforts of a luxury hotel while leaving a minimal environmental footprint.
And if that’s not enough to entice you, the three suites also pay tribute to the Ngunnawal Custodians, making them the ultimate Canberra experience. The first dome, Songlines, will offer sweeping north-easterly views of Black Mountain and the sunrise over Lake Burley Griffin, while Dyurra was named for the stars and Ngurra means ‘camp’ in the Ngunnawal language.
Starting at $589 a night, pre-opening bookings are expected to open in November for the 2026/27 summer season.
