From chronic health conditions to pre-and post-natal nutrition, this nutritionist wants to change the way we view food

When did nutrition get so complicated?
It feels like everywhere we look – whether it’s scrolling social media, flicking through magazines, or watching free-to-air TV – you can find food advice, but that doesn’t mean you should believe everything you see or read. And with lots of confusing, contradictory, and harmful advice available at the tips of our fingers, it’s no wonder that reaching our personal goals feels harder than ever.
It might seem like everyone’s a nutritionist now, but for those seeking to achieve specific health goals, seeing an accredited professional is always a good idea – and that’s where Everwell Nutrition comes in.
Established by Canberra-based nutritionist Lina Finocchiaro to provide straightforward and individualised nutrition support (because there’s no single piece of advice that suits everyone), Everwell Nutrition is here to help locals change how they view food and its connection to overall health.
Inspired by her own experiences and passion for the subject, Lina wants to focus on her clients’ individual nutritional needs to improve their lives – just like she transformed her own life while studying psychology at the Australian National University in her 20s.
“I started going to the gym and became interested in bodybuilding” explains Lina.
“I started training for bodybuilding competitions and I found the structure of the diet and focusing on clean balanced eating really helped my pre-existing health issues of irritable bowel syndrome and polycystic ovarian syndrome. It paved the way for my interest in nutrition.”
After years of confusion, as the pain went away and her quality of life improved, she decided to swap career paths to become a nutritionist.
“I liked challenging my body, especially because having some of those health issues felt like I missed out on doing a few things when I was still learning how to manage them,” she says.
“I felt like I had gotten a good amount of control over them, and I could utilise my body the way I wanted. I loved that feeling of getting stronger, getting healthier, and being in control of my well-being.”
Going back to university to study, Lina graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition in 2020, all while living in the United States with her husband and young children.
Embracing her role as a full-time mum to two children under the age of five, Lina decided that when the time was right, she would start her own business to offer people something a little bit different in the nutrition space.
When they moved back to Canberra (and her youngest turned one), Everwell Nutrition was launched.
Offering support in general nutrition improvement, sports/bodybuilding diets, and health conditions – like PCOS and IBS – and more, Lina says she can help anyone seeking to reach their health goals.
But as a mum, she is particularly passionate about pre- and postnatal nutrition.
“My last pregnancy was very challenging…It’s such a huge thing our bodies go through, it throws everything out of whack, and you lose a lot of control over yourself. I want to help women in this space, in this season of their life get back some control and get into a place where they’re as well as possible to take care of their families,” says Lina.
“Having experienced such a range of things throughout my pregnancies and postpartum, I feel like I can offer some support in this area to other mums.”
Wanting to help her clients be as healthy as they can (and to make it as easy as possible), Everwell Nutrition offers both face-to-face and telehealth sessions. Depending on your desires and needs, from casual one-off appointments to a 12-week package, Lina hopes to help people take care of themselves by offering accredited nutrition services.
“There’s a lot of misinformation and a lot of falsity with what’s portrayed out there,” she says.
“I want to offer people something really straightforward and work as a team with my clients to get them to where they want to be. If they want to lose weight, that’s awesome…But I also want people to focus on their overall health rather than aesthetics when they visit.”
“Whatever goal they have, it will become my goal, and we’ll reach it together.”
