Pawsitively Perfect: Snow Dogs returns to Corin Forest

Posted on

Snow Dogs returns to Corin Forest this weekend, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. Pawsitively perfect, even.

There’s nothing quite like watching a golden retriever discover snow for the first time – the pure joy, the spinning circles, the inevitable face-plant into a fluffy white pile. If that mental image has your tail wagging (metaphorically speaking), then mark your calendars because Canberra’s most beloved four-legged winter event is back.

Snow Dogs returns to Corin Forest this September, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. Running across three glorious weekends from 13 to 28 September , this unique experience transforms the alpine playground into a winter wonderland where pups and their humans can frolic together in the snow.

“Snow Dogs is a highlight for us every year,” explains Dane Liepins, managing director of Corin Forest.

“It’s about creating special moments for our guests to enjoy the snow with their pets. It is always an absolute spectacle to see so many different kinds of dogs all playing in the snow.”

And what a spectacle it is. Picture this: border collies attempting to herd snowflakes, labradors launching themselves belly-first into snow drifts, and dachshunds disappearing entirely into powder that’s taller than they are. From the determined snowball chasers to the dignified photo posers (we see you, Instagram huskies), there’s entertainment for every personality type – both canine and human.

Corin Forest has thoughtfully planned for maximum enjoyment and safety. The venue operates two separate snowplay areas during Snow Dogs weekends – one dedicated exclusively to our four-legged friends and their families, and another for regular snowplay and tobogganing. This means everyone gets to enjoy the snow experience without any fur-flying conflicts or territorial disputes over the best sledding runs.

For those who work up an appetite from all that snow-based shenanigans, Corin Cafe will be serving up treats for both species. Yes, you read that correctly – they’ll have dog beer available alongside the usual human refreshments. Because apparently, nothing says “apres-snow” quite like sharing a cold one with your best mate, regardless of how many legs they have.

The event runs every Saturday and Sunday across the three September weekends, with sessions starting from 9am through to 3pm. At $25 per person (with dogs and children under two enjoying free entry), it’s reasonably priced family fun that creates memories lasting far beyond the snow season. Just remember – online bookings are absolutely essential, as tickets disappear faster than treats at a puppy training class.

A few practical reminders for the perfect Snow Dogs experience: keep your furry friend on lead, bring bags for clean-up duty, and stick to the designated areas. Corin Forest sits within the stunning Namadgi National Park, home to native wildlife who probably aren’t keen on unexpected canine visitors.

Whether you’re planning a family outing, a doggy playdate, or simply want to witness the pure joy of watching various breeds discover the magic of snow, Snow Dogs at Corin Forest delivers exactly what Canberrans need as winter transitions into spring. It’s community spirit with a wagging tail attached – and honestly, what could be more paw-fect than that?
