Cool creative studios in Canberra you may not know about

Posted on

Canberra has become something of a playground for content creators and creatives, but for those looking for a space to work and play, we’ve found some hubs to make your own.

Boasting everything from professional lighting and audio gear to paper backdrops and equipment hire, here are some places where you can let your creativity flow.

Mood (Phillip)

Recently launched, the mission of Mood is simple: to be a place where creatives can express every facet of who they are through content and connection.

Located in Phillip, you can use the space however you need it – and with Rhode microphones, speakers, lighting, coloured wall backdrops, a cute couch and more included in the booking fee, that includes everything from social media content creation to product launches.

You might know them as a cool little café in Kingston, but did you know that you can also hire the space at Lil Mama’s as a studio or for events? With its eclectic interiors, stunning natural light, and plenty of space, you simply just need to message the friendly team to book the space.

Designed to be a space for vintage clothing pop-ups, art nights, live music, and a place for creatives to chill and connect, what are you waiting for?

Ideal for producing video, photography and audio content, the three studios here all come equipped with the lighting, sound-proofing and professional-grade video and audio production kits that you need for any project.

As for the Green Room? Consider it an ‘anything goes’ space that can be utilised for makeup and wardrobe, as a workspace, or even as a place to kick back when you’re not in front of the camera/microphone.

More than a barbershop, this is a space designed for creatives to connect, collaborate, and create – and the coolest feature might be the professional cyclorama studio. This curved background creates the illusion of an endless space, which can be used for lighting, projection, and as a background for shoots.

Their philosophy is simple: say less, create more. The space speaks for itself: open, electric, and crafted with intention. Whether it’s a clean haircut, a photoshoot, or a social gathering, you’ll find your place at Alkami.

Offshoot Studio (Beard)

Looking for a location that has everything from video, lighting, and audio gear to soaring ceilings and a makeup station? Offshoot in Beard has you covered.

Home to two studios where you can let your creativity run wild, Offshoot (formally known as FT Studio) includes Space 1 – a modular space for whatever you want to create with soaring ceilings and complete light control – and Space 2, which is equipped video, lighting, and audio gear, for a seamless, ready-to-go podcasting experience.

You can also add equipment hire to your booking fee (hello green screen), making it the ideal space for any kind of creative project.
