It’s time to bare it all for the Winter Solstice Nude Charity Swim for Lifeline

As we approach the Winter Solstice, fearless Canberrans will be stripping down and plunging into the freezing waters of Lake Burley Griffin, all in the name of raising funds for Lifeline.

Entering its ninth year; the annual Ian Lindeman Memorial Winter Solstice Swim is happening on Saturday 21 June.

Founded by Ian and originating back in 2017, the event was created to raise money for charities in the fight against mental illness and cancer. With public donations going to a different charity each year – and without any deductions – this year all funds raised will go towards Lifeline Canberra and their 24/7 crisis support service.

Swim Committee Chairperson Ben Johnston says, “This year’s focus is to raise much-needed funds and awareness to support the work of Lifeline Canberra. Every week we lose a Canberran to suicide, and every day Lifeline Canberra’s telephone crisis support volunteers prevent the loss of many more.”

“Help us help Lifeline to answer more calls, to help more Canberrans get the help they need, have someone to talk to, someone to listen – by donating to the 2025 Charity Swim.”

With the aim of reaching $500,000 in donations, and amidst the aid of local community groups and businesses, St John Ambulance, the Brouwer Surfers Surf Life Saving Club and volunteers registrations and donations are now open for anyone interested in taking a dip.

For just a $35 donation, go along to Yarralumla Beach between 6:20 am and 6:50 am, ready for a 7:12 am swim. Just make sure to sign up online to take part, as walk-ins will not be able to participate.
