The Festival of Speed is coming to Canberra this weekend to fuel a very important cause

Do you feed the need? The need for…speed? The Festival of Speed is coming to Canberra to fuel a very important cause.

Combining motorsport and community in the most fun-filled day out, the 2025 Festival of Speed will be bringing over 200 of the world’s most exotic road and race cars to Thoroughbred Park across two exciting days.

Running across Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January (that’s right – it’s this weekend), what makes this high-octane event extra special is that this year, Hands Across Canberra has been named the charity partner.

Bringing much-needed funds to local charities and helping everyday Canberrans an auction of three exclusive experiences will form part of the event, with all proceeds going directly to Hands Across Canberra’s Canberra Day Appeal.

Up for grabs? The chance to get up close and personal with motorsport legends and iconic vehicles, including taking a spin in a recreation of the 1989 Batman movie’s Batmobile, joining Bathurst 1000 champion John Bowe for hot laps and more.

But you better get in quick because the auction (facilitated by online platform ALLBIDS) closes at 7 pm on Saturday 25 January.

The countdown is on to see who will claim the prizes.

“We’re proud to join forces with the Festival of Speed to bring excitement and community support together,” says Genevieve Jacobs, CEO of Hands Across Canberra.

“The Canberra Day Appeal is a chance for all of us to unite and support our community. Every bid and every donation will directly help local charities deliver essential services and create opportunities for those in need. Together, we’re making a tangible difference.”

Highlighting the importance of supporting local charities that address critical issues like homelessness, mental health, and education, the auction offers the chance to win some very unique experiences (like sitting beside Australian Rally Champion Harry Bates in his Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia Yaris Rally2) as well as directly contributing to a stronger, more connected community.

The 2025 event also sounds bigger and better than ever before – with trade stalls, a food and beverage village and more. Now that’s something to rev your engine.
