The Local Lust List #1
Posted on
We love supporting local businesses here at HerCanberra. From the small independents to the larger centres which employ a multitude of Canberrans, every dollar that you spend locally helps our economy.
We see so many ‘must have’ lists that are choc full of items from overseas companies or interstate online retailers, so we have set out to create a regular ‘local’ lust list…the things that we love that you can find in your own backyard. Rather than clicking to buy, get out and discover the amazing things that our city has to offer.
This is what we’re lusting after…
1.The Fix: Cold Pressed Juice
A local Canberra company providing the healthiest of cold-pressed juices for a one off thirst quencher or dedicated cleanse. Delicious, alkaline and raw with no nasties, a few of these will have you feeling rather saintly. Oh, and they deliver. Beats Dominos. From $54 for a juice box of six – buy online or get your juice fix from one of their Canberra dispensaries.

2. ONA Coffee
I have had literally hundreds of coffees from ONA Coffee in Manuka and I have never…wait for it…had a bad coffee. Not to mention they know my name AND my coffee order and are such a cheery lot I have no reason to go anywhere else. If you love your caffeine, ONA Manuka (or Fyshwick or The Cupping Room in Civic) is the place to be!

3. Leather Midi Skirt
There is so much to love about this skirt I could gush all day. On-trend midi-length. Check! Luxurious leather. Check! Versatile. Check! This trans-seasonal bad-boy made me wonder why I ever bought any other skirt, ever. It’s not cheap, but it’s a classic that will last for year. $389 from Veronika Maine, Westfield Woden and Canberra Centre.

4.Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex
Ahhh…don’t you just love the way the change of seasons wreaks havoc on your once-dewy summer skin? Don’t fret. I have been using this serum for about a month now and I am hooked. My skin is clearer and more even, and I have been happily venturing out and about sans makeup. This is a beauty product I will continue to invest in. From David Jones in Westfield Woden and Canberra Centre, $95.00 for 30ml.

5. Chocolate-covered Macarons
I love myself a good sweet treat and so I was in heaven when I entered San Churro in Woden. I was only after a little summin’ summin’ to ease a sugar craving and settled on a pistachio chocolate-covered macaron. This little morsel of delight was so divine that I decided to purchase a five-pack in oh-so-pretty packaging as a gift too. I will definitely be back to try their signature churros and probably a lot more – the whole place is teeming with deliciousness! $3 each.

7. Scrub and Soak Bath Salts by Page Thirty Three
I find nothing more relaxing than a bath at the end of a gruelling day so I was delighted when I found this beauty in Handsomepretty. The clincher for me was that this product is a multi-tasker- it doubles as a soak AND a scrub! Made up of Epsom salts, ground walnut shell and almond meal, you can simply soak in it or add a little water to the mixture to form a paste and exfoliate until your heart’s content! From Handsomepretty, Lonsdale St Traders, $29.95.
