Picture this: you’re enjoying an unforgettable Saturday afternoon, watching a live concert set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Brindabella Ranges.
On Saturday 26 October from 5 pm you can do just this at one of Canberra’s most picturesque and historic settings – Lanyon Homestead.
Combining music, history, and fun, Live at Lanyon is back for another year, hosting a family-friendly concert performed by the Canberra Symphony Orchestra at the homestead.
Bringing together some of the finest musicians with deep ties to the Canberra region, the concert is ideal for all ages and perfect for a family day out. And with a unique blend of classical masterpieces, contemporary favourites, and movie hits, from Mozart to U2, Bach to The Beatles, there’s something for all kinds of music lovers.
Helping to make classical music and historic places accessible for Canberran audiences, Director, ACT Galleries, Museums & Heritage, Dr Anna Wong, says that they’re thrilled to once again be collaborating with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra for Live at Lanyon.
“The combination of music, springtime, and the beautiful Lanyon Homestead against the stunning backdrop of the Brindabella Ranges is magical,” she says.
“It was fantastic seeing families and friends enjoying the sold-out concert last year. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”
With a history dating back to the 1820s, the heritage site offers a unique setting where the past meets the present, perfect for an afternoon of music and relaxation. Ideal for music enthusiasts, history buffs, or someone simply looking for a memorable day out, there will be something for everyone.
Make sure to pack a picnic blanket, indulge in a pre-ordered cheese box from Le Cheeserie and grab yourself some drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to make the most of the afternoon. With gates opening from 4.30 pm, taking in the sweeping views of the gardens and the surrounding hills while listening to music on a lazy Saturday afternoon sounds like something the whole family will love.
