Your guide to Summernats 2020

Posted on

As summer starts to heat up, so do the engines at the biggest horsepower party, Summernats.

Held from 2 to 5 January 2020, this four-day festival is more than cars and burn outs, so we’ve rounded up the top events to see at Summernats 2020.

Fashions on the Field

Summernats may be horse free, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of horsing around at Fashions on the Field. This Saturday afternoon event celebrates the unique fashion choices that make entrants and spectators a distinctive crowd.

The Summernats Mullet Competition

What’s Summernats without a side of mullets? We’ll answer that: nothing. The Summernats Mullet Competition celebrates the most iconic petrol head hairstyle of all time including the Grand Mullet award winner, vying for a huge championship belt.

The Burnout Masters

The Burnout Masters is the world’s biggest and best burnout competition, with tyre-frying competitions on each day. Watch as Canberra’s skies are filled with colour, the smell of burnt rubber and the sounds of tyres shredding.

AUSSIE MUSIC

It’s not just about the cars and burnouts, there’s also two huge nights of music. Friday night sees Bliss N Eso and Kerser hit the Canna Main Stage, while Aussie rockers Airbourne and Shannon Noll take care of the Saturday night rock vibe.

Fireworks

Fireworks! Perfect for families, Saturday night features a massive fireworks display to set the mood before you rock the night away with a concert.

Street Machine Summernats Grand Champion

The Aussie automotive world holds its breath on Sunday as the Street Machine Summernats Grand Champion is announced. A giant sword is presented to the owner of the car that does best in show judging, people’s choice voting, and a series of driving events.

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD

If that’s not enough, there’s lots of tempting food to get your hands on including delicious souvlaki, crêpes, slow-cooked brisket, kebabs and more. There’s something for everyone and plenty of shady spots to enjoy your feast.
