Looking for a dining destination perfect for the ‘gram? Drop into one of these Canberra cafés for that perfectly curated feed.

Just remember: the camera eats before you do.

Sunday in Canberra (Gungahlin)

The vibe: Cosy and casual with lush greenery and moody interior accents – perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.

What to order: You’re spoilt for choice at Sunday in Canberra, but you can’t go past one of their sweet options – think:  French Toast (pictured) with whipped cream cheese, fresh fruits, Biscoff crumbs, ice-cream and fairy floss and their iconic Rainbow Bagel.

Caffè al Lago (Gungahlin)

The vibe: An Italian delicatessen with lakeside views where everything is made fresh in front of you. Just a warning though: this café takes walk-ins only, so you might have to wait for your meal.

What to order: Freshly baked Schiacciata sandwiches are the name of the game at Caffè al Lago. Loaded to the brim with Italian ingredients, we recommend trying the Pistachio Mortadelle with stracciatella, basil pesto, arugula and pistachios.

The Cupping Room (City)

The vibe: Canberra’s original Instagrammable café, many Canberrans know The Cupping Room’s signature blonde wood and signature duck-egg green aesthetic. A cool café if we ever saw one, over a decade after opening, it’s still got it.

What to order: Pretty much anything on the menu here will look good on the ‘gram, but you can’t go wrong with the cinnamon-soaked French Toast (pictured), with chocolate ganache, strawberry cheong, tuile, salted Biscoff caramel sauce and crumble. Oh, and you can add bacon.

The vibe: Homey and cheerful with neon lighting and a gorgeous green wall, the inside of this café is much like its menu – classic with some Asian hints. Grab yourself a table inside or outside and enjoy.

What to order: You (and your camera) will enjoy the Blueberry Cheesecake Bagel with maple cream cheese (pictured) and the very pretty pink Rose Iced Coffee. But keep an eye out, because they also do specials like Coconut Toast with coconut ice-cream and crumble that look as good as they sound.

Bite and Savor (City)

The vibe: This premium bakery is a little hole in the wall, but it’s worth popping into for a coffee and treat. Here, it’s not about the interiors but the goodies on offer – and you’ll be drooling minutes after walking in.

What to order: This is a hard one, because everything looks amazing. Selling a variety of French and Japanese baked goods, there’s not one particular item that stands out. But if we had to make some suggestions, the Charcoal Pistachio Cream Croissant, and Taro Roll Cake stood out from the crowd.

Good Neighbour (Kingston)

The vibe: Bustling and busy from open until close, this café is never quiet. With a spacious seating area with zingy greens and earth tones and a queue of people constantly ordering, those who love a buzzy atmosphere will feel right at home.

What to order: Good Neighbour is known for two things: Cloud Matcha Lattes and chunky New York-style cookies. Constantly rotating through cookie specials – with previous offerings including Dubai Chocolate, Oreo, Marshmallow Choc Chip and more – there will always be something new to try. And for matcha lovers, choose from the Pistachio Cloud Matcha, Strawberry Cloud Matcha, Double Matcha Cloud and Coconut Matcha Cloud. Just make sure to snap it before you sip it.

Space Kitchen (Woden)

The vibe: Polished and modern with a hint of playfulness, it’s the perfect mix of serious and fun, with the desserts in the display cabinet looking like something out of the world of Willy Wonka.

What to order: Honestly? Any of their cakes. Handcrafted, unapologetically indulgent, and worth every bite, it all looks almost too pretty to eat – almost.

A Bite to Eat (Chifley)

The vibe: Light and bright with cosy leather booths and an Instagram-worthy ‘Love at first bite’ neon sign on exposed brick, it’s a suburban gem that ticks all the boxes.

What to order: The Rocky Road Pancakes with toasted marshmallows are a staple on the all-day menu while the Strawberry Kiss Pancakes (pictured) will make your morning picture perfect.

8 Chifley Place, Chifley | abitetoeat.com.au

Double Shot (Deakin)

The vibe: Another one of Canberra’s original Instagrammable cafes, the ‘I wake up wanting to kiss you’ neon will catch your eye and your camera. But with lush green surrounds and quirky interiors, it has a vibrant attitude and a relaxed atmosphere.

What to order: You can’t go past the Acai Bar here, with four mouthwatering options that will fill up your stomach and your camera roll. An honourable mention also goes to the Panna Cotta Granola and the French Toast. But the burgers look rather good on camera too…

Rose ‘N’ Brew (Greenway)

The vibe: With a pink flower wall and Barbie-esque interiors, this café is feminine, fun and looks good from every angle.

What to order: This is another café where you’ll be spoilt for choice. From loaded acai bowls to Lotus Biscoff Waffles (served with Lotus Biscoff sauce, fresh fruit, Biscoff crumbs and ice cream), and milkshakes that are worth the sugar high, you might have to pay this café multiple visits to make it through the options.
