Whether you’re chasing late-night vibes, Spanish flavours in Fyshwick, or the next matcha moment, Canberra’s food scene is heating up just in time for summer. Here’s everything you need to know to eat, drink, and rave your way through the summer season.
Pizzeria Officina opens in Braddon
The latest outlet from The Goodlife – the group behind Terra, Recess and Outro – has just opened Pizzeria Officina in Braddon.
Look for the roller door in the alley just next to Outro on Lonsdale Street and expect delicious woodfired pizza!
Manila in Canberra is finally here
And it’s open from today. Holding their soft opening from dinnertime, Manila in Canberra is preparing to transform how we think about Filipino dining in the capital. Welcoming people for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Tuesday 16 December, you’ll find everything from freshly baked breads and pastries to Filipino-inspired dishes and signature cocktails.
Re-live the greatest hits of Morks
Keep Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 December free, because for two nights only you’ll be able to re-live some of the best dishes that came from the award-winning, boundary-pushing Morks. Taking place at Mínima (Unit 3/29 Bentham St, Yarralumla) – Mork and Benn Ratanakosol’s newest restaurant – there will be very limited tables available, so you better be quick to book.
L’épi Bakery Group hosts a Morning Bake House Party
Because there’s nothing like a rave with French pastries and ONA coffee. On Thursday 19 December, L’épi Bakery is inviting early risers to go along to their Morning Bake House Party at Level 1, 72/30 Lonsdale Street in Braddon. Kicking off from 7 am, there will be fresh French pastries, signature panettone, and ONA coffee, as well as vibrant house music and networking. Simply drop in and enjoy!
Sandoochie Oyster Night
Sandoochie (Shop 8, No Name Lane, City West) is closing out the end of the year by opening more than a few oysters this coming Friday 19 December. Get along between 4.30–9.30 pm to taste the South Coast’s finest whilst swigging some sparkling.
Expect pizza, potato scallops and crème fraiche, and dips and chips. Music by ge.n.i.e and uuuuumki. More info here.
Capital Brewing Co. is opening a “warm neighbourhood pub”
It’s coming in February 2026. While we can’t yet tell you where it will be located, we CAN tell you it’s not at the current Dairy Road digs. Taking things one step further, Lager House is described as a “familiar neighbourhood pub that feels elevated yet easy going”. And with handmade traditional side pour taps from LUKR and esteemed chef Paul Starley leading the kitchen, we’re already counting down the days.

Public launches a new late-night event, Private
We’ll give you a minute to wrap your head around that one. Bringing back late nights during December only, Public (corner of Franklin Street & Flinders Way, Manuka) is keeping the Upstairs Bar open from 10 pm until 2 am with DJs ready to kick off your weekends properly.

AK’s Diner is turning up the heat this Christmas
Perfect for those who appreciate a little bit of spice, AK’s (2 Phillip Law Street, NewActon) is selling two handcrafted chilli condiments. Choose from the Sambal (a slow-cooked blend of chilli, onion and garlic, lifted with a tomato base) and the Jaew (a fresh-style Lao chilli and onion dip inspired by the grills of Southeast Asia). A taste of Barcelona comes to Fyshwick
Patatas bravas, churros with hot chocolate sauce and Spanish meatballs…drooling yet? Barcelona Madrid is taking your taste buds to Spain with their flavoursome offerings. Located at 151 Gladstone Street in Fyshwick and open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am until 2.30 pm, you can eat in or takeaway. You can say “Por favor” to us later.

The Korean food wave hits Dickson
The K-wave continues in Canberra with the opening of Ondam Table (3/28 Challis Street, Dickson). And yes, they have fried chicken and Tteokbokki. But the menu doesn’t stop there. From a seafood pancake to beef japchae, bulgogi, cold noodle soup and vegetable bibimbap (as well as hot pots for sharing), it joins two large Korean BBQ joints and the popular Rogane Chiminac Fried Chicken in the area.

Queanbeyan gets its own matcha pop-up
Just when you thought matcha was no longer the moment, another pop-up…well, pops up. Holy Matcha Co is launching at the Queanbeyan Market on Sunday 21 December to whisk up everything from a classic iced matcha to an iced gingerbread matcha with vanilla cold foam and cookie crumble. Read that again.
With oat and full cream milk available, they use Revolution Roasters matcha sourced straight from the farmers in Japan.
Matcha meets umami in this cool collaboration
Matcha from Teddy’s Matcha and ramen from Ikigai Ramen. It’s the collaboration you didn’t know you needed. Taking place on Saturday 10 January, Teddy’s will be popping up at Ikigai (43 Hibberson Street, Gungahlin) from 10 am until 1 pm, to serve exclusive bite-sized hot food and iced matcha.

Evoke Bakery to open a new location
Beloved by Curtin locals, Evoke Bakery has announced it will be opening another location in Canberra! While they’re yet to confirm the exact location, many people are hoping to see the freshly baked bread, pies and pastries on the northside. Keep an eye on this space – when we know more, we’ll tell you.
The Weston Bull is on its way
Have you been mourning the Meating Room? Weston Creek locals can rejoice with the announcement that a new pub will be taking over the space: The Weston Bull. Focusing on everything that makes a pub good (the beer, the steak and the vibes), the standout on this menu will be the 1.5 kg Tomahawk. Meant to be shared between three or four people, you’ll have to wait until 2026 to try it.
Ken Behrens Burgers & Cafe makes its way to Erindale
2020 called and it wants its niche nickname back – the Ken Behrens Café is open in Erindale. Serving breakfast and lunch items, including B&E Rolls, gourmet burgers and chicken tenders, find it at 2/33 Gartside Street, Wanniassa.
