Dream Office Alert: this could be your business’ new home (and it won’t cost you a cent!)

Every entrepreneur knows that trying to grow a business while juggling overhead costs is tough. But what if we told you there’s an incredible opportunity to house your business in one of Canberra’s most gorgeous workspaces…completely free for six months?

You read that right! Local property developer Molonglo is offering a game-changing opportunity for one lucky Canberra business: a six-month sponsored residency in the stunning 221 London Workspaces in the CBD.

Not your average office

If you know anything about Molonglo you’ll know they’re not your average property developer. They’ve spent over 20 years thinking outside the box about workspace design in Canberra, creating everything from creative studios to virtual offices. They are all about making developments that make our city better and improve people’s lives.

Molonglo director Johnathan Efkarpidis gets why having the right space is so crucial for growing businesses. “We know that it is a difficult economic environment out there,” he says, “and we want to ensure this doesn’t hamper the capacity of Canberra-based businesses to innovate.”

The space of your dreams

Picture this: You’re walking into your private office flooded with natural light, settling in at your ergonomic sit-stand desk and gazing out at leafy city views while brainstorming your next big idea.

Need to host a client meeting? Pop into the professional boardroom complete with all the tech you need. Craving a coffee break? The beautifully designed shared kitchen space is perfect for those necessary caffeine runs and casual chats with other creative minds in the building.

The space comes decked out with absolutely everything you need:

  • Gorgeous Schiavello sit-stand desks and Steelcase task chairs (your body will thank you!).
  • Meeting rooms and a fully-equipped boardroom for those important client presentations.
  • Quiet spaces for when you need to focus and collaborative areas for team brainstorms.
  • A sleek shared kitchen that’ll make your morning coffee ritual so much more enjoyable.
  • Floor-to-ceiling windows that’ll have you actually looking forward to Monday mornings.
  • Beautiful Indigenous-designed carpets and stunning mid-century furniture in the shared spaces.
  • All the boring-but-essential stuff covered (WiFi, cleaning, electricity, and water).

And the best bit? You won’t pay a cent for any of it for six whole months!

Why this is such a big deal

The residency is based in 221 London Workspaces – a gorgeously refurbished 1968 modernist building in Canberra City East that’s recently had a sustainability makeover (hello, 20% reduction in energy use!).

It’s the perfect sweet spot between co-working and traditional office space – private enough for focused work but with all the community vibes you need to stay inspired. The variety of spaces on offer also means there’s room to move as your business grows.

Is this you?

This opportunity has your name on it if:

  • You’re doing innovative, creative, or purpose-driven work that makes Canberra better.
  • You’re ready to take your business to the next level (but current office costs are holding you back).
  • Your team is 2-8 people (including contractors) – however, if you’re a sole trader, you can enter a submission with others to share the space.
  • You’ve got an ABN.

How to make it happen

Pop 15 January 2025 in your diary – that’s when applications open. You have until 28 February 2025 to get your submission in. The residency will be announced on 1 March 2025 with the awarded business able to commence the residency within 4 weeks.
